  • Nice finish from Perry, first a clearance to win the penultimate frame on the black, then a good break of 71 (was it?) to secure frame and match in one visit. No idea how he played in the first part of the match, but I'm guessing it wasn't too bad, considering how quickly he got the match over with. Will be tough against O'Sullivan tomorrow though... :smile:

      Evening all - not posted here for quite a while.

      I was wondering whether anyone knows what the fewest frames conceded in a ranking tournament might be? O'Sullivan has conceded three so far.

      I know Steve Davis won a ranking event conceding eight frames - 1984 (Jameson's I think it was)

      @Statman - do you know?

        Good question. I hope another forum member can tell us.

          Eight has been done on a few occasions, but I think the record must be six, Stephen Hendry in the 1993 Dubai Classic.

          Assuming I am correct, O'Sullivan could only afford to lose two more frames to break the record here, which seems unlikely. But of course these comparisons are not always fair, since the length of the matches is different from tournament to tournament, as is the number of rounds the winner participates in. :smile:

            Steve did that twice actually, 1983 as well at the same event.

            • It's hard to judge them, what were the rounds the best of. Or even what's the minimum amount of frames you had to play to win the tourney.
              This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                Hendry won 30 and lost 6 at the 1993 Dubai Classic. Ronnie would need to win 36 here, so it's a bit more, but not very much so.

                • It's ronnie's scoring that is impressive in this tournament.

                    • Gotta thank Odrl as well for the stat my friend, I would've never remembered that run of Stephen's off-hand myself.

                        Ronnie's fitness regime and running must be helping him too.
                        He needs to take Maguire and Allen with him on a jog

                              • This is the most boring tournament ever because it's obvious that Ronnie is gonna win.
