    yes he was snookered

agree with acpc, that (rightfully) doesn't count towards the stats.

      not really. Odrl explained why.

      • Am I going mad?

O'Sullivan is quite clearly not snookered on that shot. He can see reds full ball, he just didn't want to play off the pack because a red was in the way.

As I said, I don't particularly care how they calculate the safety stats, but I can't see why a roll-up into the pack shouldn't count towards them, snooker or not. It's an attempt of a safety, and it's either successful or not. In this case, it wasn't.

yes you are right, although I should have specified that I meant he was snookered on possible reds on to pot; the one to the right of the pack and the one to the left of the blue. guess only the guy that keeps the stats can answer on the criteria used, even commentators say they themselves don't know much about it and indeed there's often some discrepancies.

          • Caught just a few matches so far, two of them were MJW's .... is he really that out of form or what is going on?
Also happy with most of my favourite players coming through, it seems that Matthew Stevens has played pretty solid, most likely he scored almost 400 unanswered points in his second round match.
Would love to see Brecel vs Murphy, have to record it, stupid work .....
I hope Anthony Hamilton will progress to the next round now, that break to finish of Stuart Bingham was pretty classy.

            • Anyone else think that it's a shame the 1pm games are not all on tv. All 4 could be quite good. And is it the 3rd mark Selby match not on tv? Quite surprising been world no.1 and all. Although I'm not a huge fan if his....still surprising.

Dings match could be a cracker unless set wilts with the pressure on him. Hawkins match with two top players also tv worthy. Let's just hope williams manages to up his form cos I do enjoy watching him play but his last 2 performances have been anything but enjoyable to watch....

They could call it the Mark Williams Open and be done with it I guess

                • Meh!

The China Open tends to feature televised matches featuring the Chinese lads.

I would have thought that but that's never happened twice in one match to my knowledge, certainly not in four frames. I was thinking maybe he threw in the towel early a couple of times.

You're not suggesting the Welsh are prone to bias, are you?

I don't care either way, I love watching MW.
"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

I wouldn't dare , I do too love watching MW, especially when he plays better than the last couple of matches.

                        • Does anyone know what that 1980s style remote control thing some of the refs are carrying is? It's obviously some kind of counter as you see them press a button after they've respotted a colour, but I can't think what it might be for exactly.

Oh, right. But in what way? I've never seen them being used in any other tourney.

Also, is anyone else of the opinion that part of MW's problem is that his technique deserts him when he has to play anything other than 'floaters'? Whenever he has to play a power shot, he seems to jab and come across the shot.

sometimes the table only has a referee and no supporting Marker.
You see it often at qualifiers and non-tv tables.
                                Up the TSF! :snooker:
