  • Darren Morgan came out with an absolute pearler during the ROS game.

(in strong Welsh accent) "Absolutely frightening. No other word......... Majestic!" :biggrin-new:

"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

    • Just heard Ronnie on Radio 1 news saying he's bored!
Wish Barry would just tell him to sod off then, sooner the better he's an absolute moron

        • I wouldn't say he bores me to tears, but I still wish they would televise Higgins-White this afternoon instead of O'Sullivan-Yu. It's clearly the better match.

edit: Where's the Welsh bias when you need it?

If Ron bores you to tears i wonder how can you be a fan of Selby. Or is that because you have sleeping problem and Selbys game is the only medicine working ? That would explain it.

Spot on fella, the only person who entertain in the snooker world is Ronnie yet they find him boring and they wonder why snooker is failing on all levels.

Pffttt...broken record. Snooker is not 'failing on all levels'...it's doing great...with or without ROS (my personal preference is 'without').

How can one explain this to someone who has no feeling whatsoever with what a good snooker *match* is all about. Imo it is not about one player constantly banging in the big breaks (for example like we saw with ROS in his previous matches)...come on...really, where is the fun in that? How to explain the fun in watching snooker (or any sport) is about the *battle* on the table between both players. It should never be about just one individual. That is not what sport is about...with all due respect and my personal opinion.

That's why I find ROS boring...there's nothing going on in terms of a snooker match. It's an exhibition...all nice and kinda fun to watch (and certainly impressive...I won't deny that), but ultimately not interesting at all to watch.

It's just his way of stating that his life isn't all that glamorous, he's not having three in a bed romps with the shoot out girls everyday, just hanging around a strange town waiting for his matches, OK.

Snooker is not doing great daffie, it's doing great in your eyes because you love the game but anyone who knows the score know it's not doing as well as you think, you can say I'm a broken record all your like and respect your opinion but if Ronnie retires I think snooker will end up on UK Gold.

Ok fair point I guess. Although I don't know precisely/exactly how snooker is doing worldwide...I'm just one person. What I do see is BH's input over the past years, with so many new tournaments and countries joining in. How is this snooker not working? And I don't believe this is all ROS doing, him being in the game causing all this. It's the whole of the sport going forward (thatnks to BH influence and actions), not just the one person.

Like you say...I am someone who finds snooker to be very entertaining and worthwhile to watch, especially 'old style' (matchplay, battles on the table).

(btw I'll take the 'broken record' remark back..it wasn't a fair one)

What is ”fun” for you is ”painful to watch” for me. Of course i like to see a good fight but i also like to see fluent, attacking snooker. To watch Selby grind every frame is not fun anymore. I want to see players who want to win frames due to their abilities in scoring points and playing safe, rather than annoying the opponent until he cracks. That is no ”battle”...that is ****. And the new lord of that **** is Selby, the rightful heir of Peter Ebdon.

Of course...opinions will differ, and I respect that.

I enjoy watching ROS doing his magic stuff (like I said last night...'he scares me sometimes when I see him playing like that'), but ultimately I want a tough battleand a tense and dramatic match, and this will never happen with one player constantly on top. I enjoy watching Selby 'grinding' it out, but only if it merits the table situation. Selby can play fluent enough, and make big breaks. Where I admire him especially is his never-die attitude, always plugging away trying to get a hold on the frame, finding an opening. Not for nothing John Higgins is my all-time favorite player...granite as well.

But again, to each his own...I do respect different opinions.

                            • What a lovely break that was from Robertson. Only the blue available when he started, but he gradually developed all the balls and cleared to the black. Aarrrghhh, this match should be a best-of-9!

                              • Have I really just seen Selby compared with Ebdon?! Selby makes ton after ton, he's a very heavy scorer. He can also scrap and win the frames he shouldn't, this is why he'll no doubt end up with more world titles than your Judd Trump players who are all pot and no safety game.
