Agree about foulds, McManus is excellent, too (or should i say 'oh, brilliant' instead).

Cannot for the life of me see why people around these parts like Everton though. His tone annoys me and he's always talking about something inconsequential at pivotal times.

Talking of commentators, what are people's opinion of Phil Yates?

I never liked his voice, but other than that I don't mind him too much. He is in a bit of a world of his own, he spent ages banging on about the colour of Selby's suit yesterday. Ha Ha.

At least he bring some stats and knowledge to the game, unlike the BBC crew who often flat out admit they don't know anything about certain players. Not my favourite commentator, but there's probably worse than him.

I can't stand listening to Yates. He reminds me of the way Americans commentate on basketball, every sentence is some sort of platitude. It's not the way normal people talk, and it gets really obnoxious after a few minutes.

That said, you are right, there are worse commentators than Yates around.

He has quite an authoritative voice, but he does go on a bit about other nonsense and a bit like Everton.

I see Phil "never use one word when a thousand will do" Yates is attempting to commentate on two tables at once now.

I haven't been watching during the day, and missed the second match last night. Has Clive been commentating during the day?

Is there a reason that Yates has been added? Or did they just think that there was an additional commentater needed for the workload? In previous ITV tournaments, Clive seems to commentate pretty much all the time.

Clive probably needs a nap more often now

                  Can Peter Ebdon play snooker?

I know that might seem like an odd question to ask of a player who's achieved what he has, but his performance against Ding today was woeful. In my opinion there's question marks over virtually everything he does at the table; his technique, shot selection... even his attitude in an odd sense - never lacking desire, but so intense and prone to over-thinking everything he does, that any natural ability he may have is always suffocated.

Of course he can play snooker. He's a World Champion, a UK Champion and a multiple ranking winner. On Tuesday, he beat Neil Robertson who has won multiple events this season.

I think it's safe to say he can play snooker, irregardless of what you might believe based on watching one performance.

With all respect to yourself, my view isn't based on one performance. I've never rated Ebdon and believe he's only achieved what he has through determination, rather than natural ability. His poor technique trips him up constantly and I just don't think he has what it takes these days.

Yeah, but that don't mean he can't play. Somebody with an ability to play snooker doesn't win a World Title, no matter how determined.

You could argue he doesn't have the same natural ability as, say, Ronnie O'Sullivan. But that's not the same thing as saying he can't play snooker.

I think he needs to adopt a burger diet. Too much fibre seems to have affected his snooker ability...
I know I am feeling a lot better after a nice juicy burger :P
