It's the nap on the new cloth on the jaws of the pockets that makes them receptive, as modern tournament cloths have a fine nap I don't agree with this argument, unless of course the cushion cloth is different to the cloth on the bed of the table.

Marco Fu is playing really great stuff right now, almost three centuries in the row and about 350 points with out reply. I would expect him to dominate the match from now on and to finish it comfortably, something like 10-3 or 10-4.
The second match is not as fluent as I expected, but it seems to me that Stuart is definitely feeling a lot of pressure, I think this will be close match, but fancy Ali to win it just a little more.

I played on one for the usual tables I play on which had been reclothed (bed and cushions) and we were the first to play on it and the pockets (not reshaped) where more receptive as the cloth allowed a bit more slid on the ball
we were amazed at the shots that went in that the previous day would not have
It has not been a month or two since and the shots that once went in are tending to bobble and stay out

Geoff Large has often said that "in clubs" the cushion-cloth would be a step or two down the scale from the bed-cloth to resist the direct impacts; now in pro matches, is this concept the same or do they have the same top notch cloth on the cushions as the bed?
        Up the TSF! :snooker:

So anyway ... quarter final stage and over half of the people taking part in this poll are wrong. Wonder how many die hard only Ronnie fans have switched off the snooker?

Hope a few stay tuned in to watch more of it and appreciate it for what it is. More than one way to play the game and I think that fact makes it more interesting

Actually, more than 80% of people are already wrong, regardless of what happens for the rest of the tournament.

That includes myself, as I voted for O'Sullivan.

I didn´t vote as I couldn´t decide if I should put my voet at O´Sullivan or Robertson.

I was almost right there. Now that Mcmanus replaces Higgins, I though can't see he would undo Ding too much.
So either Ding- Selby or Ding-Fu (less spectators in UK perhaps) remains my dream final 2016.

why would that match have less spectators in the UK?
                  I would love that final!

Well, the atmosphere in Fu v Hawkins match was obvious, much more applause for the later. I can imagine the match between Fu and Ding being less attractive for many fans.

I disagree, such a final would be a great match.

I think the "greater applause" was for the "underdog coming back" "battling hard to keep in the match£ and not because he "was not" Asian.

                      And what a last session
Was in the pub last night watching it on the laptop with a couple of friends; one of the guys playing poker kept coming over and watching and we were doing hand signals to him as the frames progressed

Think I was second to vote in the poll and voted for another player, so I'm doing quite well.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

I hope that fans will still stick to the show if it is the case. I watched fu's last frame yesterday . He has the bottle! All players coming thus far have bottles to show us.

I think he has zero chance. personal issues have done for him this year.
Well Andra, so far so good for Selby.

My heart wants a McManus win, but my head goes Selby ( and he seems to be doing it the way I thought he would ).

These comments will, of course be the kiss of death to both their chances and it'll now be a Ding - Fu final . . .

I always thought Marco Fu and Mark King would make a really good final
