I want Selby to win. Not only because I like him, but I still hope he will find his A-Game for the final and then he would us definitely give a better final than Fu, who would be a clear underdog against Ding.

        • I wonder if Fu did feel that foul? I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I mean it was a normal safety shot, the foul would have only cost him 4 points and possibly being forced to play the (easy) roll into the bunch. There is no reason for him not to declare it if he was aware of it surely?

          • No way he didn't feel that foul. Thankfully he lost the frame and despite not being a Selby fan he's now the one I want to win this match.

            Shame something like that happened.

            • As soon as I saw his finger move slightly towards the red, I was thinking he's going to foul this, and he did. I noticed it in real time straight away.

I was surprised Brendan Moore didn't see it, usually when a player is leaning over a ball or bridging over one they are like Hawks crouching down looking to see if a foul is being comitted . But here he was on the wrong side so he couldn't see it.

I don't want to say that FU cheated and will give him the benefit of the doubt , however it's pretty hard not to feel if u touch a ball with your finger.

Couldn't Selby have taken the brown into the centre pocket? I can't remember exactly where the cue ball was. Surely he must have felt it.

Clearly enjoying his snooker then? I trust this was said when he thought the mic was off?

How could Selby play the brown coming to the table? Would the foul have resulted in a free-ball or something (only caught a quick replay of it in the studio)

                  • Thought the mic was off yeah. I'd say if it was just his fingernail touching the ball he might not have felt that, but it wasn't, maybe just concentrating too hard on the shot to notice?

It definitely would have been a free ball. I think. (I might have to rewind it now!)

                      • I'm sorry, but that elderly grey-haired lady in the front row really gets on my nerves. She always has a really sour expression and is NEVER awake. She comes to the WC every bloody year... Why, when all she does is sleep??

As for the foul, wasn't it Mark Allen who when asked about players declaring fouls on themselves, said something like, "Most of us are really honest when it comes to calling fouls on ourselves... I could name a couple who aren't, but (bla bla bla)"

                        • I am stunned that Marco didn't call it. If there was one player on the tour who I would be certain would do the honourable thing, it would be Marco Fu. Baffling.

He will inevitably be asked about it after the match. His response will be interesting to put it mildly....

                          • Re: the foul, I have just rewatched it and Cov86 is right that the only shot for Selby would have been the roll up to the yellow. Baffling that Fu didn't own up.

Lovely frame between Selby and Fu to finish their session. I thought I would have plenty of time for my 30-minute walk home after the frame finished, but it turned out it was already time for the next session to start when they were still playing, incredible. Nice result though, it should be an interesting evening session. I'm still sticking with my original prediction, but it does seem like Fu could take control of the match if he starts strongly.

Very well played to Ding Junhui. I called a new centuries record after the first session, but he only managed to equal it, shame on him! It's amazing that McManus held on for so long though, every credit to him. This semi-final will live in the memory for a long time as one of the best, even if it did not go all that close in the end.

Oh, and before I forget... I must object to Philip Studd's use of the phrase "a great escape Steve McQueen would have been proud of". I've heard him say that a few times now, but surely McQueen's character got caught in the end, didn't he? The phrase should be "a great escape Charles Bronson or James Coburn would have been proud of".
                              And John Leyton,who played Willie.

This is what makes me think perhaps he didn't feel it. The back of the fingers aren't as sensitive as the tips. Perhaps he was focusing so much on cueing the ball that he simply didn't feel it.

Fu has called fouls on himself before, so why would he suddenly not call it in a situation where there was no huge disadvantage to doing so?
