  • Great match! Very entertaining all around, and well done to both Selby and Ding for the great snooker!

Selby has won 2 or 3(can't remember) and 1, looking like two, world championships yet people think he is just lucky!

By the way the game is called snooker... clue is in the title... it's not all about pretty flowing balls going into pockets, it is a game largely based around tactical safety and... snookers.
Couldn't agree more with this sentiment. Perhaps TSF should arrange a sub-forum for the Selby whiners, as their message becomes very predictable and tiresome after a while IMHO.

Did you see his body language at the end. What was going on there?

      • Selby jammed his way to that win. Luck was 80:20 in his favor. If only Ding played well from the start.

Yeah I did. Definitely something not right in his private life. Maybe marriage on the rocks...who knows. Vicky seemed supportive and happy enough, but appearances can be deceptive.

Anyway, well played mark. Disappointed for ding but he had a great run this year and went some way to amending his mediocre crucible record. Hopefully he takes confidence from this and goes on to win within the next few years.
I don't even expect a player like Selby to be universally liked but it does a big discredit to the game of snooker if you only like it when balls are going in pockets and nothing else.

            • He gave Hazel a deathly stare and looked horrifed when his family came over for photos. Not the behaviour of of someone who has just become world champion and had a very nice payday in to the bargain. Very odd.

I can appreciate that, but for someone who has just won the world championship he looked rather unhappy.

You know how ridiculous that sounds? Over a 35 frame match it is just a petty excuse.

Selby has won 3 Masters and 2 Worlds..... he must of been jammy to win all of them!

                  • Under normal circumstances I would love to see Mark Selby winning, but I really had hoped this was going to be Dings year. Anyway congratulations to Selby.

Whereas Mark seemed fairly downcast, even miserable, at becoming World Champion. Very odd.

Indeed...and imo it's even worse than that...if you can only focus on your severe hatred for a player/person, and this then completely overrules even the match and battle you are watching, then you are the real loser in my book. This goes for all the selby haters in here...sour grapes as always

I thought he was just gutted that Hazel spoiled the footie results. Anyhoo. Was a great tournament overall. Hopefully Ding will win next year. Night all.

Yup...could have been fatigue, but somehow didn't look or feel like it to me. No, something is definitely very much off...I seen it in the way he gets incredibly annoyed even angree, and banging his cue and actions like it. Very unlike the Selby we know (and love!).

He's not saying he has been lucky to win them all - just this one.He had an easy draw- look at who he played. The only match he played well in was the final. And he did have the run of the ball.
