Great match but I thought Carter was about to crap himself on live television with the number of chances he missed after already having Bingham needing two snookers. Reminded me of 90s Jimmy White in all those finals.

Congratulations to Carter, what a thrilling decider. A shame for Bingham that he had such a tough draw for his first matc. He had deserved a longer titledefense. First suprise of the tournament even if it´s only a minor one. Ali Carter is a class player.....its not called potting its called snooker. Quote: WildJONESEYE

Against most of the qualifiers you'd have expected Stuart to reach the second round - even with a dangerous qualifying section but pulling Carter or Ding would have been extremely tough in any year, let alone as the man to open up proceedings.
He'll be back I'm sure - he's not a World Champion by luck

A shame there had to be a loser this evening as Bingham is a likeable fella, but I'm pleased for Carter and especially all the sh*t he's been through in his life off the table.John Lennon : Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. :snooker:

A midnight finish on day 1, lovely start. It was never going to be easy for Bingham against Carter, but he did have his chances. Unfortunately he played rather poorly for most of the match. Carter wasn't at his best either, but at least he is still in the tournament and has a chance to raise his game for the next round. Maguire is in trouble in that part of the draw, so things are opening up a little.
Performance of the day has to be Fu's thrashing of Ebdon. He made a series of high breaks in the morning to take a big lead, then just kept clearing from behind in the evening to win very comfortably. All Ebdon could do is applaud at the end. We've seen this kind of performance from Fu before, but his problem has always been stringing a few good matches together. Hopefully he can play this well in the next round as well.

I suppose I'm slightly biased, to be fair, as Bingham's style of play doesn't do a lot for me, so his absence will be of no real loss.Last edited by Billy; 16 April 2016, 11:46 PM."Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"
