  • That post didn´t give much meaning. I meant that he lost position and played save, that way you don´t miss but you won´t get over the line either.

Get the feeling both might go 10-9 tonight. It certainly seems the case in the Walden v R Williams match that it'll be the person who makes the fewest mistakes who gets over the line

And the way those two have played tonight we could be looking at a 3am finish.

                • Great Championship so far. As an 80's throwback my favourite moments have been Steve's emotional retirement yesterday and Ronnie's inspired choice of Monkey Magic for his walk on music. Not to mention the excellent Crucible Classics series in the insomniacs slot.

Great to see Ronnie, Higgins and Mark J all looking sharp and Ronnie throwing a bit of his usual controversy into the mix as well. Exciting finishes between Bingham v Carter and McGill v Murphy (esp enjoyable w/Murphy losing), enjoyable BBC coverage from Hazel, Steve, JP & co in the Winter Gardens w/Eurosport as a back up on the odd occasion when its needed. The WC never fails to remind me why I still love snooker and this one has all the makings of one of the best in years.

                  • 9 - 7 for Sam Baird. He looks very confident now.

                    • Typical Walden match - turgid.

                        • 10 - 7 and Sam Baird wins. A deserved win, he really took control in the last part of the evening.

                          • I think Michael White is another player with incredible talent but temperament issues .... Well done Sam Baird, played some good frames to finish the match off.
The other match is pretty poor so far, not suprise for me, as far as I recall, this is the way that most of the R. Williams matches are like, he is great longer potter, but his break building is not on par with that and Ricky Walden seems to be out of sorts also ....

Oh, right-oh. Thanks Mr Snooker. I still maintain it's rather odd. It's not like they're struggling for commentators. Bit sad to hear Neil and Jimmy have chosen Eurosport for the WC coverage. Maybe the Beeb are a bit staid for Jimmy's personality, but he should be joining the rest of us at its home.

                              • I must tell you this.

I was watching Walden v Williams but as it was a bit too boring I decided to watch some highlights of John Higgins' match today. Turned the sound off of the stream and watched Higgins play for a few minutes. Then switched back to Walden v Williams match and much to my surprise heard Ken Doherty saying "this has been the best performance during this year's championship" WTF!? I actually believed that for a second but then I remembered Higgins' match was still going on on my other Chrome window. :stupid:

Good win for Baird. To my surprise I found myself enjoying his game quite a lot. I think this is because he doesn't use too much time taking the shot IMO. Oh, and MJW seems to be in form this year. Looks very relaxed and doesn't bother too much about things. His "MJW special shot" to pot the green when snookered showed some courage

Btw Ronnie 94% and Gilbert 93% pot success rate was quite impressive stuff. Has there been any other matches where both player's pot success rate has been over 90% in the end?
