Trump vs. Selby would be a great final for me. But there are still other big names left. Higgins is playing like the Higgins of old, Williams is still there (albeit not the player he was) not to mention players like Allen, Ding, Carter. Still lots of opportunities for a great final that does not include O'Sullivan.
I agree on this, still sad with three topseeds out though. Carter back in form and physical well can beat 13 of the other 15 left. The worst thing to happen was another Carter - O´Sullivan final, and I don´t think he´ll have a chance against Higgins,

Yes. Bingham, Dott, Ebdon, Murphy and last night Robertson.

      • I saw the Eurosport punditry team for the first time last night. Colin Murray came across like he was trying to be less jokey than usual. Maybe with Ronnie absent, he was trying as hard to impress everybody. He's still a bit of a cock though. He has an annoying face.

Nice to see Dominic Dale, who does know a lot about snooker, to be fair. Unlike the entire roster of BBC experts combined. He did act like Anthony McGill beating Murphy was a massive upset though. Which, I don't think it was. McGill did well last year, why is it a surprise he won this year?

Jimmy White went off on one about how Michael Holt is known for not being afraid to play top players. Which is the opposite of what Holt is known for. However, they discussed the Terry fact might help improve his results, and so it proved.

And hey, at least Colin Murray didn't think his name was Hazel Irvine this time.

Griffiths has certainly played a part in helping Holt's temperament. I still think he still ponders on certain shots too much, but is an enjoyable player to watch.

I always though that him and Gould could push forward in the game if they really got it together (not in a relationship)

I don't know, man. I really like them together.

I for myself would love a final between Selby and Ding or Selby and Higgins.
Yeah, no need to panic just yet. Quite a few of the favourites are still in the tournament, and some of the qualifiers that have made it through are strong players in their own right. I still think it could be a good World Championship.

That said, 2012 and 2013 had a lot of the top players failing to perform, and I don't have particularly pleasant memories of those tournaments, so I'm hoping we don't get too many upsets in the remainder of the 1st round.

Yes. 2012 and 2013 were two of the more disappointing World Championships in recent memory. But still you could have Quarterfinals like: Carter - Higgins, Trump or Ding - Williams, McGill or Fu - O'Sullivan, Allen - Selby.
That wouldn't be too bad I think. Though reasonably there will be the one or other surprise.

On a sidenote: The exit of Robertson weakened the top half of the draw a bit. That was the stronger side of the draw anyways I think, so now it's a little bit more equal.

Also I'm already looking forward to Fu - McGill. That could be a very good 2nd round match.

                  • Good start for Ding. I really think having to go through the qualification could have helped him.

                    • Hoping Mitchell can create some sort of a comeback so we can have a tense exciting match.

                      • I have the feeling that Ding will, for once, go very far in this tournament....Looks like his drop out of the top 16 and the fact of having to qualify could have been a blessing in disguise. He was very strong in the quals and so far, looks as strong for the first two frames. Looks very solid, mentally focussed and he's getting the job done in quick manner.
Impressive so far. Gives the impression of having something to prove after this crazy turn of events. He knows he's much better than his current ranking. This might well be the awakening of the Dragon...

I, too, am beginning to feel that.

His heads down, he looks beat, 10-4 at best?

Yes I think so as well. He looks rather nervous out there. Of course he can be forgiven for that, this being his virgin Crucible and all

Doesn't look like he's enjoying the Crucible experience much does it.
