Ding vs Higgins final.... Watch this space
I thought when Ding threw away the 14th frame after being 54 up with 43 left on the table he was done for. Showed good character after that and winning the last 4 frames.

I think this could catch up with him in the next round after playing another 18 frames on top of 3 qualifying rounds.

        • Liang and Trump, they practise together as well, I wonder what those sessions are like.

          • If I'm not wrong, I think I just watched the whole Crucible highlights programme on BBC2, and not a single frame from the Joe Perry v Kyren Wilson match? Once again... thank you BBC.

The highlights show is still on, as I write, and will be for another two hours yet.

I'd love this to be Ding's year, but he's still making too many unforced errors.

              • I was hoping that Martin would go though but well done Ding.

My TIVO box is stuffed full with snooker and I haven't got time to watch it all.

That would be fantastic final, it just won't happen. Cause both are on the same half of the draw. But I'm all for this semifinal.

This small interview of Ding is very telling to me. He looks much more relaxed now, much more at peace with himself and seems to enjoy playing a lot more. His work with the Griff seems to work very well and could mark the beginning of his comeback on the main stage. Not that he really left but clearly, he is not where he should be, ranking wise.

I'd be drooling at the idea of a semi Ding v Higgo....

                    • ding showed signs last month that he seemed to be enjoying playing again and I said to a mate of mine he's not a bad price to back for the WC.

I think dropping out the top 16 and people writing him off has probably taken an immense amount of pressure off him. His game now reminds me of when he first came onto the scene and playing very attacking and also playing quickly.

For some reason though I just don't feel Ding has the determination when things go wrong for him. If he played Liang and the run he had yesterday I feel that would really upset Ding and it only takes one or two pieces of bad luck to affect him. Also he has a poor head to head against Liang, and Trump has never lost to him at the crucible, either way Ding is going to have to play better than he did and over 3 sessions, a very tough ask.

                      • Hey I just saw Michaela Tabb in the ref's box...might she possibly be back or make her way back to snooker referee-ing? That would be fantastic for the sport in general I feel :snooker:

                        • I want to believe that Trump will win today but I just get the feeling that Liang is not going to wilt under the pressure. As for the start of the 2nd round I can see it being really close between Fu and McGill. Really can't separate the two, probably come down to a deciding frame.

                          • A good start from Wenbo. Hoping for a small comeback from Trump, to make it an exciting match, but would love to see Liang win it ultimately.

                            • Trump isn't coming back from this. Simply not got the bottle and Liang was probably the worst draw for him. Its obvious from their meeting at the UK that Liang knows he is better than Trump from their practice matches as he is showing all the confidence and doesn't look frightened.

Trump looks like he wants out of there because his timing is well out. Maybe he partied too hard after winning in China and just expected to turn up and play well.

                              • Trump already in deep trouble losing the first frame of the session. Can't see him winning from 7-3 down......He's busting real hard.
