    • Selby definitely not match-fit...missing far too many relatively easy ones, and is missing his usual rhythm. Not susprising with the lack of tournament 'practice' due to personal reasons. Still curious to find out what those are exactly, maybe he will open up on it in the (near) future. Still hoping he will come through in this match and will pick up some form for the next round(s)...

        • I think most of us have players we find difficult to watch and not necessarily the obvious ones, either. Most people seem to really like McGill, for example, but I can't stand watching him. Very awkward action and a very stop-start rhythm around the table. Personally, don't mind Selby at all.

              • Whoever is responsible for the tables has really messed up. This is the World Championship and the tables are a joke. Bad bounces all over the place dictating frames and pockets cut too generously. Some of the pots that have been going in really make a mockery of pro snooker. I play on a pro table and believe me, the corners are considerably tougher than these.

                  • Re Carter just snookering himself among the reds, I thought the player was supposed to nominate the colour not the ref?

                    The fast and the furious,
                    The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

Correct. And Neil Foulds aluded to exactly this on Eurosport...said Ali should have been more forthcoming nominating color himself instead of the ref.

                      • Carter was just setting himself, he wasn't going to play the shot, that's why he told the ref to wait a minute.

Geoff Large needs to get down there and sort these tables out though.

                        • If he had hit that shot without nominating a colour though, would that be called a miss? A player could then use that to his advantage if not.

He played the same shot 3 times and not one time did he nominate color if I remember correctly? Couldn't hear him that well though, so may have missed it...

                            • The ref asked, he said wait a minute, then nominated the green, I think he said same shot on the next attempt or something, murmured.

                              • Murmured indeed...hence I think why Neal Foulds said as well Ali should nominate instead of the ref...or at least be more forthcoming with nominating color.
