    Will you survive?

Looks like Selby could finish this off at 13-11 now.

            • A pity we didn't get that decider, but at least Selby is through.

              • Regardless of the disappointing result(nothing against Selby, but Baird plays the prettier snooker), Sam Baird's name can be added to the list that finally forms the new generation of talent: Kyren Wilson, Anthony McGill, Liang Wenbo and Sam Baird have all started making real progress in the last 18 months or so. I'm hoping Thepchaiya can break through onto the main stage too - he looks a serious talent. That's going to increase pressure on the older players but particularly the middle generation of Trump, Ding etc.

This was the first time I'd seen Baird and he plays a lovely game, so I'll be keeping an eye out in the future.

                • A really good effort from Baird tonight, especially in that last frame. I thought the frame was pretty much over when Selby got the 50-point lead and the table was messy, but Baird actually got himself in a position to force the decider. It's good that Selby won't be playing for a couple of days now, as he really needs the rest.

I was impressed with the way Higgins played tonight as well, although I only watched it from 2-2 onwards. The stats showed him to be on 93% for long pot success, which is just crazy. It's not a very round number either, which means he must have taken on quite a few, probably got 13 out of 14.

Same - for me Selby is even luckier than Trump!

                      • It seems every other poor shot is a kick or a high bounce or some excuse when it comes to Ebdon commentating. Can't say I'm a fan of his commentary either way.

Although slow motion has proved him right every time!

Nah, those bounces have always been there. It's only with the use and quality of slow-mo these days that we get the opportunity to see them.

He has called the kicks very well, much better than WT for example...

The average age of the quarter-finalists so far add up to 39...
