  • I'm actually pleased ding finished off the match there and then as it gives him a days rest and stands him in better stead for the tournament. Lets be honest, that match was over pretty much as soon as it began.

      • Aye, it's unfolding nicely for ding so far....

The winner of Higgins - McManus. So probably Higgins.

            • Pleased for ding but not a great match due to the tip issue, as mentioned before and by John parrot strange why he had no spares.

Great chance for ding, as I would normally have said he had little chance against Ronnie but those left in...

I would like a ding vs Wilson final, if anyone had a bet on either of those before qualifying started must be happy.

I don't think two qualifiers have ever made the final before, last one was Murphy from memory but can't recall before that.

Ding has moved nicely back up the rankings now, if he wins I think he might be number two. What a difference to a few weeks ago.

Does anyone know why the order of play is changed tomorrow? Was it done once the draw was made so it could have been Ronnie match?

Almost one table time, I do enjoy the last few days but wish the semi finals were done over two days like the quarters. And maybe a rest day on the Saturday for both finalists and some fun stuff for public.

              • Ding is really benefiting from having to go through the quallies

There is no one left he can't beat, i still think he has mental barrier against Ronnie

                • What was the tip issue in the Ding williams match ?

                  • 10 - 6 to Selby then, scrappy but enthralling all the same. Hats off to Kyren for sticking in there, it could so easily have been 9 - 7.

Ding through with an extra day's rest, and what a lovely clearance of the colours in the final frame, O.K. the yellow wasn't so great but green onwards, superb. Shame the match was so one-sided but even without the tip trouble I couldn't see MJW troubling Ding too much atm.

There has been no change - it is the same as at the start of the tournament. QF3 is always the afternoon and evening sessions each year, as far as I recall.

What, less snooker??? No, I don't like the sound of that at all. I suppose you want a winter break for our poor overworked footballers as well. Pffft.

I think someone said that Williams was playing with a new tip which hadn't been played in.

I agree! Seems odd that snooker fans would want less snooker! If they do ever change the format that has been in place since 1982 (other than 33 frames for the SF) then reducing the second round to best of 19 would be the most stomach-able. I always think the Quarter Finals are the biggest disappointment as they only last 2 days opposed to 6 days for the first round, 5 days for the second round and 3 days for the semi-finals.

I'd argue there is. Higgins. And as a massive Ding fan I say that with a sinking heart.

                              • I enjoyed the Selby-Wilson session tonight, very tense towards the end when both players had a chance to get a great result. Wilson was so close to getting back to 9-7, he must be frustrated at still being four frames behind...

Well done to Ding, he played quite well and took advantage of Williams' struggles. I have to admire Ding's composure though, I would have gone mental if I had to suffer so many kicks and big bounces in a single evening, whereas Ding handled it very professionally. Ridiculous conditions for any tournament, let alone the World Championship. :frown:

If it makes you feel any better, Ding has a positive record against Higgins over the years. He won their most important match to date, the 2009 UK final, and he has also won the last four times they've played, including in the World Championship last year.

Not quite. Three qualifiers have reached the final since Murphy in 2005: Selby in 2007, Dott in 2010 and Trump in 2011.
