  • Surprisingly one-sided stuff in these quarter-finals, not at all what I expected. It's funny though, the one match people expected to be one-sided is the only close one so far. McManus just won't go away, will he?

I had little reason to think that tbh,McManus won 4 straight frames from 7-9 v Carter in the last round, plus beating Maguire and thrashing J Robertson.
Young players game my Emirates :-)

      • How incredible would that be for Alan McManus to make the Semifinal in the crucible again after 23 years? Who would have believed anyway that he would make the WC-quarterfinals not once but twice again only five years ago?

Yes, it looks like Kyren Wilson will be the first 'new' player to be permanently into the top 16 since Trump in 2011. I know Liang Wenbo has been in for a short time at various times but essentially it has been very samey for the last 5 years.

            • Yes it would be an incredible story indeed. Alan is such a nice guy, and he thoroughly deserves it imo. Very hard to choose between him and JH for me personally. Still a good match to watch this one.

              • Getting sick of all these long close-ups of the players faces in between and now during shots.

Shame he couldn't make it 8 - 8 but 9 - 7 is not too bad. Now, if Barry could possibly get to 10 - 6 this afternoon we'd have an interesting evening on both tables to look forward to. It might not leave them much of a break between sessions though.

I wondered about that. How come they play 2 sessions back to back? That's a bit too much isn't it...

You're not kidding, it's like they've got Sergio Leone on the mixing desk.

All we need now is some Ennio Morricone music...

                            I think that makes sense.

                              • That is very hard to read, what he meant was that if they hadn't messed with the schedule then some people who had already paid for tickets would be watching an empty table, or Steve Davis playing Dennis Taylor or something like that.
