I think a lot of people prefer and remember quality safety battles like Selby vs Baird to century's.
With lots of century's
1.There's a lot of dead frame time once the opponent needs too many snookers.
2.Unless the player in break is going for a max or a tournament high break - unless its pots of the lampshades and superb positioning whats the big deal.
3.The oft inevitable cry rightly or wrongly that the pockets are too generous.
Just my slight ot take though. :-)
Obviously not big enough for Selby to make a decent break, but wait a minute he's ran out of position( again) and rolled up behind the yellow, riveting stuff, it's what legends are made of. Never mind pin point positioning and perfectly crafted century breaks let's watch that roll up in slow motion, you won't see a better shot played in the championship than that, well not untill his next shot which may be a roll up behind the green, I can hardly contain myself

Perfect timing for that little rant, just as Selby knocks in a long red and clears to the pink with a 125.
Not a rant, an observation, one swallow doesn't make a summer, that puts the world number one still behind the qualifier on decent breaks in this match.
Why do you think one frame justifies all the garbage he's played before?

I'm not saying it "justifies" anything, whatever what means, I just thought it was funny timing. It was short-lived though, as you say. Apart from that frame, this session has been one big scrap, completely different to the Ding-McManus match. I definitely think Selby would have been knocked out by now, if he was in a different quarter of the draw.
That's better, nice break from Fu to level the score again. Selby has responded each time Fu's come back at him so far, but we are approaching the business end of the match now, so the pressure will increase.
I'm out for lunch, so will watch the rest of the session later. 12-12 would be nice.

And one robin doesn't make a winter. We all know Selby is on his B-game atm so getting this far is an achievement in itself. How often do we hear players criticised for not being able to cope when they're not on top form, which of course happens to everyone.
World No. 1 and 5th in the century list with 417, very difficult to get there by just constantly rolling up to the yellow.
Interesting to note that we've got No. 5(Selby), 6(Ding), and 7(Fu) top century break makers in this semi. I was quite surprised to see Fu there with 394.

Now now, don't get too butthurt over selby's success
