Ref Paul Collier states loud and clear that some of the ear-pieces need turning down. Why did DT find it necessary to inform us of this fact when we all heard it??

I asked myself the exact same question...weird thing to do from DT.
Congrats to Mark Selby, hung in there and deserved to win, let's hope for a good final.
Someone posted that Selby has been in some of the greatest WC matches ever and stated the Robertson match, I have to agree that was a cracker and he did play well ( better than well, the best I have ever seen him) in that match, and it is a modern classic of a match, fingers crossed he finds that form again.
If Selby can stay close he wins it, I have a doubt in my mind about Dings mental strength, with all the expectations on him from home ,it's a hell of a weight to carry, and let's face it if there is one thing you can never doubt Selby on its mental strength, I think Ding needs a four maybe five frame lead going into the last session.
By the way the 2014 semi final between Selby n Robertson is on Crucible Classics at 1.45am

It's something he does with great regularity. He can come across as quite patronising at times.
"Statistics won't tell you much about me. I play for love, not records."

How come Paul Collier is refereeing anyway? I thought he quit years ago.

been in this situation and what used to happen was the ref would ask for earpieces to be turned down, and the commentators would not say anything and audience would turn the piece down. Then the commentators would start talking and the audience would turn up again as they turned down too much.
So the commentators talking immediately after does allow for good adjustment
