A very enjoyable first day of the final, particularly tonight's session.
It would have been nice for Ding to take one of the last two frames and make it 9-8, but after nearly going seven frames behind I think he will be happy enough to still be in the match. It was a good move for Selby to prolong that 15th frame as much as he could, but I think it was equally important for Ding to keep Selby up in the last frame, because it was clear that Selby was tired and getting very frustrated at having to play on...
Credit to Selby for playing his best match of the tournament when it matters the most, just like I thought he would. Ding disappointed me a little, clearly feeling quite nervous early on, and he hasn't been able to impose himself on this final at all. He is not getting in with long pots, and Selby has prevented him from finding any scoring rhythm so far. If Ding plays the way he did against McManus tomorrow, I still think he will win, but it's a question how much he still has left at this point. Selby looks tired as well, but he could be on his deathbed and still fight like no one else...
It should be a cracking day tomorrow.

Regarding Ronnie, is it me or does he seem to have lost most of his sense of humour as the years have gone by? I suppose the expectations are different now he's the legend rather than a talented young player, but he seems a lot lighter in clips from 15 or so years ago.

What could help though is that to me Ding looked fitter at the end of the day.

Not really enjoying this final, many frames have been tedious and too long. Ding hit century after century in his last match and now he's been dragged into a defensive battle against the grinder Selby. Hope Ding wins this, really can't stand the thought of Selby becoming champion with his style of play.
