Anyway. Congrats to Selby. He must be overjoyed and well done to Ding too. I hope this marks a return to form.

I'm surprised at the overwhelming dislike of Selby. I think his balanced approach, tactical mastery and superb potting under pressure is always worth the watch. Admittedly it's not as exciting as some players, particularly the quick break-builders, but it gets the job done time and time again and his mental strength is second to none. True champion and congrats to him.

I felt sorry for Selby because I suspect a reason why he was so subdued is because he doesn't want to stir up more criticism for celebrating. It seemed like he had to downplay it and that may be why he seemed very uncomfortable when his wife and daughter came over for the photographs.

Anyone who thinks he played too slow needs to watch more players than just Ronnie and anyone who thinks he's boring to watch should realise these guys don't play to entertain us. They play to win trophies and big fat cheques. I don't think he was unsporting in anything he did he just had to find a way to win and he did. Ding should also be proud of the snooker he produced and it was nice the studio made a point of that afterwards.
