Hope the Australian Open is added back on to the list, was lucky enough to go last year with a couple of the players to Bendigo and then on to Melbourne for another week after they got knocked out...I'm pretty sure the event won't be staged in Bendigo again but maybe somewhere in Melbourne would be better

The European Open finishes on 9 October in Bucharest with the English Open beginning in Manchester on 10 October. The two finalists could potentially finish late on 9th so will they have to immediately fly to Manchester for matches the very next day?

How are amateurs meant to pit their wits and chances against pro's now as there's no European Tour events ?
All very short sighted and odd.

It appears that the Paul Hunter Classic will still be open to amateurs. Though I think they could stand to add a couple more open to amateurs.

As an aside, one of my pet peeves is the liberal use of title 'open' when tournaments are anything but. If they want to make it a professional only event that's fine, but calling a closed tournament an open is like calling a pool hall without coaching a snooker academy. I don't care that you like the sound of it, the words don't mean those things!

Yup I gathered Jason Ferguson tweeted yesterday the Paul Hunter Classic and Gibraltar will have an Order of Merit for amateurs.
It only took them about 11 weeks for that tweet,Phileas Fogg would have beat them to it.
Agreed on the 'Open' wording, those home series of events,English Irish and Scottish were ideal to open up the game to amateurs in Britain where there hasn't been a Euro Tour / PTC event since the 2013/14 season, poor.

If this happens, order of the play is usually postponed. This scenario was possible couple times, most recently PTC Finals/China Open.

I thought the home series would be proper Opens as well. I wonder if the preliminary rounds to qualify amateurs incur extra costs that Worldsnooker is looking to eliminate?

Good question,I don't have an official answer but it looks like its a combination of eliminating costs and only wanting who they want to filter through onto the pro ranks.
Kind of like an 'out of sight out of mind' thing.
The delay with the announcement of the Order of Merit makes that fairly apparent I should think.

I would have thought the ideal way of getting players of sufficient quality to filter through the pro ranks would be to allow them to pit their wits against pro players. I don't know why world snooker would be against this? At least they then discover the standard they'll need to reach to make it as a pro player. Whereas Q School I always thought was a bit of a lottery, a favourable draw, and couple of flukey wins and lo and behold you're now a pro player. Congratulations. By the way your first pro match is in a few weeks against Neil Robertson so good luck! Is this really sufficient preparation?

Yup,and finding Star Pro tables to play on in Britain is like gold dust.
You can feel as confident as you like on a high street table but it isn't the same as a pro environment with a ref and hoover's like Robertson as you say breathing down your neck. :-)
