  • So 3 - 1 to Selby at the interval, but could so easily have been the other way around but for a couple of middle pocket misses from Ryan, both of which I thought he'd get. Selby's long game seems rather fragile atm and I suspect Ryan will be a little annoyed at himself for not taking full advantage.

    • He's let him off the hook again in frame 5, couple of careless safety shots and now it's 4 -1 to Mark.

        • Bingham beats Carter for the first time in 10 years they say in commentary; the match was not high quality but I am sure Stuart will remember it for some time

Oh right thanks, and sorry Neil haha

yep McGill and Gilbert previously noted.
So Luca finally gave up the Acuerate!
I gave up trying to keep up with Dale's cue some time ago
Wow, this comes as a surprise given that his coach Chris Henry is the father of the Accuerate stuff...but might be a blessing in desguise for Luca. These cues are a fraud in my opinion. Waaaay too expensive for the quality provided, and never been convinced by the technology behind it.

But Maximus is getting a lot of attention right now and rightfully so. Their cues are very nice. Two of my mates bought Ultimates and they are highly satisfied. Recently, Ant McGill was praising their laurels as he found a very good cue, with which he won in India.

              • Snooker bingo - how long before Mike Hallett says "actually" ?? Definitely going to be in the first frame, probably on numerous occasions.

Just getting that off my chest, I like him as a commentator overall

                  • So good wins for Maguire and Ding, respectively 5-1 and 5-3 over White and Holt.
Maguire is now in the semi finals and will face Ding. The other semi will feature Stu Bingham vs Mark Selby....Needless to say one semi is way sexier than the other one Glad for the Scot though, he's been running on alternate current for a while but it's good to see him back playing top snooker. Micheal White can consider himself lucky to have reach the quarters the way he played, kind of a miracle I think.

Ding has overcome a toughie in Holt but is now through and the Chinese hopes are very well alive.

Of course he's talented, he wouldn't be in these tournaments otherwise. Now he just got dismanlted as soon as faced one of the top guys who didn't throw the match away.

How do Acuerate claim to reduce deflection, lower end mass? I could not find any technical info on their site. Also how do they generate more spin when this is not really possible as all cues of the same weight and tip size can only impart the same force?

                        • IIRC ,I think they claim something about the shaft taper Slasher, to help with deflection and spin.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                          • Acuerate cues are ****, too narrow a taper to be enjoyable to play with, like a bloomin pool cue and small tips as well. Horrid. Black spin is more bollox. Both designed to fleece you. Don't fall for it. Pros don't need Acuerate or black spin. Neither should you.

okay makes sense, effectively reducing the mass and squirt, but the "more spin" is well... a lot of spin

Reducing the squirt does make it easier to play extreme spin without losing accuracy but there are more effective ways thanAcuerate just removing material from the shaft. I have seen pro's miss relatively easy balls when they have had to load up the CB. One reason I can never understand why brass is still used in cues, there are stronger and lighter materials out there that will reduce the squirt and last longer.
