Well that session went south for Ding rapidly. Not even a stupidly high standard by Selby imo, no centuries or total clearances like we often see.

Poor ding, if it was 50 or more to 1 I would put a few quid one.

But can't see a turnaround here tbh, Selby would have to loose the plot more than Hawkins likes to do when 5-1 up...

And it's a ranking event next year, so the second biggest prize?

For a new event, if these events are back to back again some massive money/points on offer to a player in form.

Well, that was some disappointing snooker...

Ding has a very strong record in major finals, but nightmare sessions like this one do happen to him sometimes. The 2014 Welsh Open final was an example of that. He opened with a couple of centuries in the evening session on that occasion, so let's hope this huge deficit will relax him a little again, and perhaps he can still prolong the match a bit.

It's tough to see Selby losing from here though. He is extremely reliable in these situations, and he seems to be in a merciless mood today.

What do I do with my afternoon if the second session only lasts half an hour? :smile:

If ding didn't have such a bad start at the world's, was it 6-0, he could have taken Selby I reckon.

Shame but he is well past the stage where these results upset him for too long.

Just the home pressure I reckon is still massive and hard to understand.

I would to visit China and see how he is viewed their during an event.

Have they made a movie, like Bend it like Beckham..

Even for me as a Selby fan I would have hoped for a closer match. But then I'm a Ding fan as well...

It's a shame that the second session was over that fast. I just took place in my office and all I saw was Selby giving some autographs.
However it's great to see him playing so well like he did the last days and winning another big ranking title. It's just his ninth and this still is a fairly low number for the player he is.

Woke up at 11.30, saw maybe 5 minutes of snooker. Selby was on fire yesterday, but I thought Ding might make a match of it. They don't eve put the clocks back in China, so he can't have that as an excuse. Or maybe he wanted a lie in.

Just looked it up. The last 10-1 in a ranking final was at the 2012 World Open, when Mark Allen beat Stephen Lee. Also there was this year's Masters final, when Ronnie O'Sullivan won against Barry Hawkins with the same result.

It's difficult to argue with a 10-1 scoreline, very well played to Selby. It was probably his most impressive performance since the demolition of Stephen Hendry in the 2011 World Championship. The International Championship was the only really big tournament missing in his collection, so we can now say that Selby has pretty much won everything in snooker. Winning multiple tournaments in a season is obviously very difficult, but a bloc of big events is approaching, and surely Selby is going into them as the favourite. :smile:

As for Ding, can't win them all, obviously. He had impressive wins over Higgins and Trump, so I was convinced he would be very competitive today, but he just never found any kind of form, and he didn't seem to have much fight in him today either. I am sure he will be looking to redeem himself in the upcoming China Championship.

All in all, it was a pretty disappointing weekend, without any close matches. The early rounds had a lot of good matches though, and several nervy 6-5 finishes, so I think we can say this was a decent tournament. :smile:

Looking forward to some more best-of-11 snooker next week in the China Championship. The field for that is superb, so I suspect it will be a very enjoyable tournament. :smile:
