Also, in your scenario where the intent is clearly unfair, I think the referee should warn the player for "ungentlemanly conduct" and issue a warning, another warning and the frame will be awarded to the non-offending player.

"ball on" - there is always a "ball on", it is just whether you can play it directly or not (snookered or not), which I think you mean
I think they should get ball in hand, this would stop all this kind of manipulation of the game and rules, never should a player be put in a disadvantage from this type of stuff....
But that is the thing, the non offending player always has the choice of putting the offending player back in if the cue ball is in a bad situation. In effect putting the offending player to play the tough shot that they themselves left; )
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

      • Delighted to see John Higgins playing to the same ultra high standard he used to be notorious for. I never thought I would see him on this form again. Some of the balls he knocked in during last nights session were superb and whatever he's doing I hope it lasts. On that kind of form he would be very dangerous next May.

I know Higgins and Ronnie are good friends and Ronnie's dad is old pals of John's dad so I was surprised to see Ronnie do a runner as soon as he had given his runners up comments. Bit disrespectful and I'm sure John wouldn't have done that to Ronnie.

It's a shame he took off but he's so far up his own arse it's hardly surprising, the comment the previous day about fellow professionals wasn't cool, i love watching him play but i wish he would just **** off and retire at times
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

            • I didn't notice that, no, but I suppose he did if I think about it. He usually looks like he's going to burst a bloodvessel on the shot.

Exactly how I feel about him now Geordie, his exhibition at the club has been cancelled, if cancelled is the right word as it ended up never officially being set up because of his feckin around and numbnut demands.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

I think he was in need of a pee or something, because for all Ronnies faults he has total respect for JH and openly said he was the best player and the favourite before the match.

                  • John Higgins puzzles me: After the NOTW thing, he talked about "not knowing if you're going to be able to earn a living, to provide for your family" and then after the CoC, he said "Yeah, because I've won [£300,000] I could afford to bring the family down."

Either he's talking rubbish or where's the money going??

unless you win the event snooker is not that profitable.

I was thinking and puzzling about that on Saturday. Ronnie's prize was £50k which sounds a lot for a weeks work but then you have to deduct:-
World Snooker's fee. Managers Charge. Travel Expenses and then HMRC will take a massive slice. Assume Ronnie is in the higher tax bracket so could lose 40%?
Might not be a lot left to pay the Mortgage and the kids school fees?
Being a nosey sod I'd like to see one of the top players tax returns.

When he was due to play at my local club it was cancelled on the day of the exhibition, he's more trouble than he's worth

He's won millions in prize money and will have earned millions from sponsorship - if he slips down the rankings is he going to go down the jobcentre?
