  • Come on Selby. Not a fan but O'Sullivan a disgrace.

    • I'm ashamed to say after watching a loss to Villa and a few consolation drinks I fell asleep long before the game ended, I wasn't expecting it to be such a close match either so didn't battle my tiredness at all. I'm watching the replay now without the suspense of knowing what the result will be, but sounds like there's entertainment even so.

to be fair, Missing that green was inexcusable at this level.
As John Parrott pointed out, he woulda have potted 9 out of 10 times. just a matter of pressure.
many mistakes from both players and they got their chance to finish the job at decider. Fair play to both and was a great match to watch, imo.

        • Lol some of you call yourselves snooker fans and call o sullivan a disgrace. Hes done more for this sport than any player in history with just his raw talent. You dont have to like his personality but to not acknowledge how special he is in this game and take petty shots at his character every chance you get is the real disgrace. Also, that split from the blue tho....

I'm a fan of Ronnie (amongst quite a few pros), but I don't think that if someone doesn't support him they aren't a fan of the sport. You don't pick players to support based on their net contribution to the game, their personality plays a role too. I agree calling him a disgrace is a bit hyperbole, but I'm sure those who do aren't showing their true feelings but just a gut reaction to some of the negative things he says aimed at the sport itself. Everybody knows he hasn't had the best family life or mental health, everyone surely has respect for him in a certain kind of way (unless they're psychopaths )

Thats my point though, how can they call him a disgrace when hes just voicing his opinion. As a veteran player hes actually entitled to those opinions as theyre directly relative to his life and career. So for people to call him a disgrace and hate on him because they dont like or understand his perspective is just petty. And not saying he gets a pass for his controversial behavior at times but everyone knows his back story so why are they surprised and even offended... the rationale thing to do would be to try and understand him.

It's just the way people are, part of our natural make-up, the witch hunting, tribal clan aggression. I'm sure when those making severe derogatory remarks step back and think about it pragmatically they realise they are being a bit severe with their opinions. In reality I bet those who respect ROS is nearly 100%, I mean how can you not?

                • Just watched frame 10 through, Ronnie is a lucky lucky man. That kick was devastating, let alone the rountine green missed. The snooker gods were looking over him today

Glad youre one of the sensible and reasonable ones, cheers.

                    • I think Ronnie also had two kicks in two seperate frames when he was between the balls, maybe I didn't see it very well, will try to find it on a Youtube replay later.

And you must admit it, playing that bad for his standard and then pulling out that (almost!) clearence in the decider... Top class!

                      • So I looked it up, I was talking about these two situations:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crRLioutu6k - The shot is at about 03:10, I think the red jumped a little bit but perhaps bigger reason was poor cueing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS9oeARbWDY - The shot is about 00:37, this one definitely kicked

Hmm, not sure about either occasion, the first he played it at a pace you'd expect the cue ball to leave the table, the second looked like he hit it too thick.

                            • OK, first one maybe not but second one definitely kicked, look at his reaction, look how the ball reacted, you can even hear it

                              • Yeah there was a small kick, straightened it up a small amount but didn't look like he got the right angle either.
