I think it would have dropped at that pace off the jaw had it not kicked, frame ball too I believe. First one sounded funny but think it was just a plain miss.

You could be right it might have dropped but it wasn't as crucial a ball as the huge kick that Fu got, he'd had won I'm sure without that. The first one was played at medium pace, he was striking down on the cue ball and the object ball wasn't far away, don't think it was a kick at all but a poor shot

      • So happy to see Ronnie still making these Triple Crown events finals. I just hope he wins the title tomorrow because it's time he gets a win.

Last session will be most crucial compared to first. 1st session I see Ronnie taking it but he has to contain Selby in the last session.

        • Lovely match tonight, some classy breaks, a few nervy misses, and great drama in the end.

It doesn't get much better than Selby against O'Sullivan, does it? Looking forward to it already.

          • Time to stir the pot a bit I think...

I can't wait for Selby to knock Ronnie and his fans down a peg or two today

Really enjoying your previews, Odrl. You were spot on with your last one! Accumulators must be a nice little side-earner for you surely

On a different topic, why is Willie Thorne known as 'Mr Maximum'? As far as I know, he's made one competitive 147... Is this some self-congratulatory statement or something?
Favourite players: Kirk Stevens, Stephen Hendry, John Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ding Junhui

              • Well well well, this is definitely the dream final I was looking for. If we can avoid it being a one sided affair then we are in for a true classic

                • Got to really strongly favour Selby but I'm hoping I'm as wrong about this match as I have with so many others

Think he made a large amount in practice, I watched him once before a match and he never missed a ball in half an hour then went on and got gubbed six nil with a qualifier.

Exactly what you you said because he made a few in practice, he never did quite have what it took on the big stage when the pressure was on did he, but as you say very good in practice.

Yes WT got the name 'Mr Maximum' because of all the 147's he used to make in practice. But I have heard that he would smash the pack up from the break and if he potted the first red and couldn't get on the black or missed the first black then he would re rack the balls. As other's have said he was not a match player. He did get to a major final many years ago but I'm sure many on here will remember the easy blue off it's to win the tournament against Steve Davis. Davis beat him. WT was very lucky in as much as he was around when he was. If he was a youngster in the modern game you would have never heard of him!

Yes the famous missed blue in 1985 UK Championships , I think he's come across as a bit resentful of other players success at times, more to do with his own lack of success, but since he's been commentating he's bigged himself up a bit I think.

Anyway back to the main event really looking forward to The Rocket v The Jester, was a great semi last night.

                          • Hoping for a high quality close match today, and a final frame decider. Ronnie says he is the underdog, but he is clear favourite with the bookies

                            • I was hoping for another Higgins-Ronnie final. But this is second best I guess. Bring it on!

Yes totally agree. WT seems to be extremely resentful and bitter to other players success over the years due no doubt to his own failures. He is also imo the very worst snooker commentator. He is the only one where I have to turn the sound down on.

Yes the final should be interesting. If ROS plays like he did yesterday though, I think Selby will beat him.
