    • What a remarkable match, JH looked initially unstoppable, I doubt many saw 4 - 9 at 3 - 1. And what a nice bloke Marco is, such humility, pure class.

Good shout. Nice win for your lot today as well.

                • What a strange match. 9-4 was probably a fair result in the end. I find it difficult to understand why Fu hasn't won more tournaments, he seems to have a very solid game.

                  • If you analysed from the first frame to the last he owned it. Nothing more to say than that.

He has got quite nervous near the finishing line. Also, most of the time, he's the underdog and not well supported at UK tournaments. Even in Sheffield, against the dreadful Selby, the partisan support against him makes like trickier. He has to play the crowd and the player. Not easy to deal with that pressure. He's also far too nice and nice people rarely win or dominate a sport. He's probably underachieved, so I'm glad he got one today. Let's hold fire and judgement until we see some wise words from Mark Allen's twitter feed.............

                        • I think it's disingenuos to talk about a home favourite that's won it here. They've tried to beat a home favourite and we'd be beaten, they've done better than we we would

                          • If you had a question when you was earning £30,000 a year and you could be earning £100,000 or even £500,000 a year I reckon you'd show a few weaknesses too. Let's be honest

                            • I think Fu won it in the first frame of the evening, when Higgins threw the kitchen sink at him trying to get the snooker and he just kept hitting them.

He just looks so solid and cool in most of the matches I see him. Even when Fu loses he seems difficult to beat (like that 9-10 UK final against Murphy). Higgins is one of my favourite players, and I've seen Fu clobber him several times before. I remember thinking that more wins would surely follow his 2007 Grand Prix victory (where he again looked very convincing against ROS), but he still seemed to remain on the perimeter of the elite. Perhaps Fu's game just isn't quite as consistent in reality as In my memories, but I suppose that there can only be so many prolific tournament winners.

Mark Allen's Twitter feed? He'll probably conclude that Fu's A-game wouldn't threaten the top 128 today.
