O'Sullivan only got involved in Asian tournaments last year, as his rankings were falling and he was in danger in falling out of the top 16 and the thought
of playing 3 qualifying rounds was not an option. He did mention that was this was main reason for getting involved in a few overseas ranking events.

Truth is the "home nations" events aren't as prestigious as they would have been when there were only 6/7 tournaments.
The 'home' nations events are immediately subjugated by the UK championship which has more prestige, more prize money, more history. They're sort of junior events if ya ken to the daddy UK? They're not quite like PTC events but not as big as the main opens.

Anyway, I'm losing track of all these events. I don't put time aside to follow events now because there is always snooker on, and if not now, probably next week. We must be getting close to saturation point. Can't blame the players for taking time out. R&R and the need to practice/see a coach about wee things is time well spent that can reap rewards down the line. The last thing pros will want to do is burn out early and become crap. Still, if a few are taking a rest, there's spots to fill for other pros and those outside the top 32 won't be complaining.

PDC darts is exactly the same via Hearn and there's hardly a week that goes by without some tournament on the box. I don't know
whether this is a good thing or not with regards to saturation and viewing figures.

        • Anything with multiple best of seven rounds is inferior to events with longer matches. Best of nine with no interval seems to be a realistic compromise. Stopping for a break after four just frames is daft anyway.

          • I don't mind the mid session break at all, it's just for 15 minutes or so anyway and I think it is a good way of describing the little battles to the audience who might not know much about the game.

            • Just have one more qualifying round and make the tourneys 64 players, then all the matches can be decent lengths. It will also free up tables for practice times as I have seen a few complain about this.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                Are you listening Barry?

I also think there should be 64 pros and let any bum try and qualify, a few sheckles for the best ams and the chance to test their mettle against the pros

Most players can't go a frame without a **** these days. Should put a time limit on exiting the arena or once every other frame it's got ridiculous.

WS have put a number limit of occurrences per match but an actual time limit is not feasible due to the distances at some venues
I noticed in the recent events that the times players have left the arena has reduced, not to nothing but definitely a reduction
