    German Masters 2017 - Discussion

I may have missed previous commentary and interviews but is that the first mention in the Sky interview that the table was not playing nicely?

Think so Dean , the players must have been talking about it for Ronnie to ask the question .

Do like the way Ronnie butts in and asks questions to the player at the end of matches .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

I honestly thought Hamilton's semi-final in the Northern Ireland Open would be an isolated good result for him this season, but every credit to him for pushing on and following it up with a run here. He will be the underdog tomorrow, but anything can happen.

It will be Carter's eight major ranking final, and his fourth against opponents chasing their first major title. His record is not too surprising, two heavy defeats to O'Sullivan and one to Higgins, but he did win the four finals against "lesser" opponents.

Well played AH, great to see him through to the final. :encouragement:

Got to say, that again, the audience at the Tempodrome have been superb.
Apart from three occasions (that I have noticed), one moving, one camera, and one idjit shouting (Carter supporter); the rest of the 2000+ have been spot on with their clapping, oh&ah's, appreciating good shots for pots or safety, frame balls and centuries.
              Not sure single phone ringing!
              Prefect
Must be amazing for the players getting this reaction

This semifinal was really terrible, I had problems to watch it. Both players struggled too hard almost whole match.
Hope to see a better one today.

Carter something like 9-5/9-4 which will still take ages due to AH's play.

Not exactly a classic so far, is it?

Still, 5-3 is a decent result ahead of tonight, and hopefully we can see some late-evening drama. I have a feeling Carter will win with a few frames to spare though.

Bit of a farcically run sport/business when they can pack this Tempodrome yet there's hardly a club to be found in Germany according to the analysis with ROS and JW.

Odrl what do you rate higher in terms of 1.performance and 2.surprise.

McManus's run to the Crucible semi's in may or Hamilton making it to the final here ?

                        Cheers

Heard in the past that most snooker "clubs" in Germany are the private member type; a few people get together and run a small hall for themselves

They should give Lukas Kleckers a tour card and put the Eurosport cameras on him for every first round,a simple little thing like that would probably sound too convoluted for Jason Ferguson I guess.

Probably McManus on both counts. To be able to play to the standard he did throughout a long tournament such as the WC was impressive for a player of his age and ranking, and you cannot really say he had any luck with the draw or his opponents underperforming. If someone had told me before the tournament that McManus would be involved in a match with the most centuries scored between the two players, I would have trouble believing them. For me he played better than Davis in 2010 or Hendry in 2012 when they reached the quarter-finals, and he went out with a good performance in a high-quality match, rather than suddenly struggling with form and losing heavily, like Davis and Hendry did.

I honestly didn't expect Hamilton to be competing for a major ranking title here, but the qualifiers had filtered out a lot of the top players, and this isn't really one of the season's most prestigious events, so a surprise or two was always possible. And there hasn't really been any fireworks from Hamilton either. He has done enough to get through his matches, but for me he played better in Belfast.

Got to take my hat off to the promoter of this event. If this doesn't inspire the next generation that snooker has a future nothing will... :snooker:
