The competiton wasn't so weak back then with players like Davis or White around. It's already included in your description what made Hendry so great. He CHANGED the game completely with his style of play, which is an enormous achievement. And still his break-building is unparalleled except for Ronnie.
Players like Hendry and Davis would have tried to develop their game in the circumstances each era would have needed and would have been big winners in any time in my opinion.

You know what I noticed the other day?

I haven't seen any of those disco balls yet. Have they had them?

Just switched it on, not the scoreline I was expecting.

ROS hasn't really got going, showing lots of casual safety and unexpected misses

Consequence of the vegan diet? Endurance for the match but at the cost a "spark"?

Why are there so many snooker players called Mark?

He use to be easy to watch, but he's more methodical now.

I don't really see why viewers should take his dash of bravado in the studio seriously, like when the presenter asked him can Jamie Jones beat Marco Fu his answer was 'no',without any particular reasoning other than that Fu won the Scottish Masters.

Cue a few hours later where MF wins the match with a huge slice of help thanks to two flukes and its all giggles and Bob's your uncle, bit naff really.

How did Ronnie & Robertson play? Good standard?

With Trump and O'Sullivan safely out the way the rest of the tournament should be a bit more watchable ...

I've never seen Robertson miss so many routine reds in one frame.....his game is very poor at the moment .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

That's what makes this game incredible. It takes absolute self belief in ability which even the greatest players can only maintain for a certain time. Confidence is everything, it is also a fickle friend to many. (Especially us mortals)

I like Robertson, I believe he is good for the game and I like to see an Aussie/antipodian contingent in the mix as there has been one since I was a kid watching and enjoying this game. It creates a worldly image which is great for the sport.

He needs to regain his swagger, and believe again. Not sure of his coaching status but honestly believe he doesn't need just table time practice but "mind guru" support.
