Records are there to be broken and yesterday a near 2 hour final frame decided proved that. If this was the WC final 17-17 and that frame took 2 hours I think many people would be on the edge of their seats with tension and excitement.

I remember the Ebdon v Dott final and set snooker back a couple of years for being a boring climax

It surely depends on the quality of play. I remember that record frame at the crucible between Selby and Fu as one of the best ones I've seen. Fantastic safety play from both, the tension was amazing.
But this doesn't count for all of those frames.
Haven't seen the O'Brien - Gilbert decider, so can't comment on that specifically, but only generally.

He even took 4min for the last red, brown and a pretty straightforward safety on the yellow. Selby vs. O'Brien would be a cracker with the winner possibly playing Ebdon...

No, I'm just a pessimist. This will be the first time for years that I am not going to watch the first round match of the defending champion. But let's turn negative into positive: At least this match is "just" best of 19.

Did anyone notice that Yan Bingtao was the only player not to wear the sponsor's logo on his waistcoat? Does anybody know why?

Did Jackson Page have a sponsor's logo?

If Bingtao was the only player, as opposed the only player seen on TV coverage not having a logo, then it can not be age because Page is younger and he played the qualifiers.

Oh, my fault. I only had those players on my mind I saw live at Ponds Forge. Maybe there were others not wearing the logo either.
