For me, I feel they bring out the pure snooker situation and drama that is "snooker" the part of the sport that we all love the most.

    Pour your thoughts snooker peeps!
Well, this isn't really a question. Matches over longer distance are always more fascinating and thrilling than shorter ones. Tension is builder over many hours, you will have great breaks, great safety duels and both players have their fair chance to come back into a match. You can have a weaker session, but still come out victorious. There are now accidental world champions, you have to perform great over five long matches. Well, you can have easier ways and a bit of luck, but you still need to play strong.

Of course it's logical that the by far most important tournament also has the longest matches and therefore the most difficult tasks to win the title as well as the most dramatic matches.

I'd also like the UK Championship to go back to longer matches. At least Best-of-15s for the quarter- and semifinals. And I wouldn't say no, if they would change 1 or 2 more tournaments (maybe the China Championship, which could become the third big ranking tournament) to longer formats.

The World Championship with its format, which hopefully won't be changed, should stand alone though. After all there is only one World Championship and it's format should show it's significance.

And how anyone that can screw the white back 6 inches is "blessed with cue power", though Doherty has been saying that as well as of late...

My absolute favourite is when he says "now watch the cue ball" when someone is attempting a deep screw or something - funnily enough I am watching the TV I don't need to be told to watch the cue ball - what else am I going to be doing! It would be like a commentator of a football match saying watch the ball when someone takes a free kick. What about his constant use of "believe it or not" .... "he was trying to get on the blue believe it or not". And don't forget his "count the number cushions" when someone tries to escape from a snooker.

Conforming well to the BBC rules and regulations list that states, "repeat these stupid themes time and time again and we will reward you grandly" winner! I give you....Dennis Taylor. Portrayed well in the BBC drama - The rack pack. The straight guy come good for one amazing great performance!

Here here to the China championship following the longer format. I'm sure this is progression for the sport.

Haha, I believe Willie Thorne actually started that lyric. Maybe Dennis is so impressed as he couldnt do it himself

Does my nut in, you'd have to be totally incompetent not to be able to spin the ball around on those tables, yet they gibber on like they're doing something special.

I know, its quite bad. Also his drooling over the partners of the players.

Ha Haa he he! So true! Only slight defence for the guys in commentary is - if you know the game well and have to commentate for hours, what other elements would you bring to the table that would be better? I ain't gonna pitch cos I got none! Think I'd like to hear more of what someone like Steve James would have to say though...

Set o teeth like a suitcase full of tick tacs but loved him. :snooker:

"And theres Marks wife in the crowd, he was just telling me she's had some new breast implants for added bedroom shenanigans, so we wish them all the best with that."

Some of the stuff they come off with you'd think it was something they wouldn't expect to be broadcast on the tv.

They are sticking with them though.
I will say one thing in their defence of basic commentary - they may be catering for the less knowledgeable audience too.
