I think he's got tons of talent, showed up ready to play with the best but got benched. Wish this match would have been a best of thirteen just to see what would have happened. I think the word is out that this guy can play, got the best out of Selby who sure did not want to lose in the first round.
I try hard, play hard and dont always succeed, at first.!!!!:snooker:

Yeah, everybody knows Zhao has lots of talent. Many notable players have stated this and you can see it. But contrary to Zhou Yuelong and Yan Bingtao (who both are even younger than him) Zhao wasn't able so far to prove this with some good results in the tournaments.

Mark Davis beats John Higgins 4-1 and has now won 5 of their last 6 meetings at ranking events. What is it about Davis that makes it so tough for Higgins to play against him?

          What a clearance from Selby!
Red down the cushion was superb...

Indeed. Incredible break. Really difficult situation. Some fantastic balls.

And it was a pretty important frame as well.

Another superb steal from Selby to take the 4th frame. That ballsy last red

Good answer by Lyu as well. If you see him play like this you would not think that this is the first ranking event of the season he was able to qualify for.

On this form LYU will back stronger!
Quality potential and future 'anything' he wants to work for in the game... :snooker:

Terrific match...that Selby escape in the last frame from a difficult snooker putting Lyu into an even more difficult snooker was absolutely ridiculous. Yes a bit lucky but still.

Someone famous once said after being told he was lucky....”You know, the more I practice the luckier I get “ I’m sure that can be said of Selby. 😁

A bit of a pity that Lyu had to lose that match, but I hope we will see more of that kind of performances from him. He certainly has great potting abilities (though I think he might not as many pots as he made yesterday all days) and also his break-building seems pretty good. Lots to build on.

For a chinese he showed quite a lot of emotions too.

Two surprising names for me are left in the Third Round. Good showing again by "oldie" Peter Lines. After making the round of the last 16 at the Paul Hunter Classic he reaches this stage again after beating Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 4-3.
Billy Joe Castle goes as deep for the first time in his career as well.
They are playing the two only chinese players left in the draw. As Lines plays against Zhou Yuelong and Castle meets Cao Yupeng.

One day, I hope Peter and Oliver Lines have to play each other on a televised table at a ranking event.

Lots of promising matches today, a pity they all are only Best-of-7.
Particularly Neil Robertson - Mark Williams and Stuart Bingham - Luca Brecel.

Robertson hasn't lost a frame so far, while Williams, who has slightly improved this season from last one, was on the verge of defeat against Ross Muir, winning only on the black ball in the decider.

Bingham - Brecel means that the actual world numbers #10 and #11 in the provisional ranking will meet, so that's a real top match. If the Belgian wins he will overtake Bingham and get into the Top Ten of the world for the first time in his career.

Mark Williams and Robbo could be a belter.
