Always the same with the TV matches. They don't show Fu - Vafaei, which is by far the most interesting match of this session, but the rather one-sided affair between O'Sullivan and Baird and now Selby vs. Saengkham.
Great win for Matthew Stevens. He beats Mark Allen 5-4, coming back from a 2-4 deficit, his best win in a long time.
Selby and O'Sullivan won easily (based on result, Selby didn't look that strong), also Marco Fu overcame his tricky opponent Hossein Vafaei 5-3, Zhou also reached the second round.
Saw just one frame of Trump today, but already there was again visible, that among other things his missing cueball control still separates him from the likes of Selby, O'Sullivan, Higgins and Ding. He now plays Dott while O'Sullivan plays Gilbert. Both could be tricky opponents, but I still expect the favorites to win those matches and then we will see the duel of them both.
Notable 2nd round matches:
Selby - Zhou: Will be interesting to see if Chinese super-talent #1 can challenge the world champion.
Maguire - Yan: Maguire is in good form so far this season, now meets Chinese super-talent #2.
Hamilton - Murphy: Those two met only once in a ranking event. At the 2007 Northern Ireland Trophy, where Murphy prevailed. But he wasn't convining lately. Can Hamilton make a strong start to the season?
Brecel - Fu: Rematch of this years first round match at the world championship, where Fu staged an unlikely comeback.
Stevens - Un-Nooh: Would be happy for both of them to show their talent again for once and make the round of 16, where they would have a doable match again to go even further.
Day - Williams: Welsh duel between two players who try to stay in the Top 16.
I thought Trump was in pretty good form today. He played much better than in his previous matches. His laser eye surgery probably took its toll for a certain period but he looks to have recovered now. He was scoring heavily and was close to make a maxi. Too bad he missed his position on the black at 97.
ronnie was rolling over Sam Baird pretty easily. Seems in a pretty good mood.

Hamilton conceded due to an injury. I couldn't quite hear what it was because I have the volume turned down (Yates commentating :wink but I think they said it was a back injury.

Murphy has twittered -
"Feel so bad for Anthony. Terrible to have to withdraw due to injury. Hope he can get the treatment needed and get well soon."
