Genius, no, wrong word for someone thats good at a sport. I realise and know how he has got to his high standard, by hard work, lots of it, from a very young age. Difference between the Ronster and 99% of the others - has to be the mental side and his ability to take practice play to match play.

In a World Final I would still back Selby though, slightly, to beat him. Selby is in Ronnie's head before the start and he also knows he can't bully him.

No. Da Vinci is a genius, Mozart is a genius. Ronnie is very good at snooker. John Higgins is the best at taking his practice game to the match table, if ROS could take his practice game to the match table the last time he lost I would have been at uni!

Well not really, I mean I don't suppose Chris Wakelin considers himself on a par with the Ronster either but he's beaten him, so O'Sullivan has proven he's not above losing to the odd nobody in the past, and indeed the commentators too often go for a coronation before he's anywhere near winning.

On another note, were Ronnie to continue in this vein, are there 6 ranking events left in the season?

They are still the two most dangerous players when on form imho.

My point is you can'nt judge a player's performance based on his match result at the time (at the day).
IF you can name just one player in the history of this game who was able to win every single match he played during his entire career ,
I would be more than happy to take your note on board and accept it .

then you are not watching the snooker - bingham is one of the few who have turned him over at his best on multiple occasions, notably on his way to winning the 2015 world title.

It's 12-3 to O'Sullivan and that includes two whitewashes.

Why not? Which fields of life do you believe genius should be limited to?
I'm not arguing he is a genius per se, but I don't see why you can't have genius sportsmen, genius game players etc.

Arguing about semantics on a snooker forum is always going to end well.....


May as well just say painting isn't a sport and therefore how can they be a genius. Or say writing or playing music isn't genius worthwhile... it's always about the field that the word is used in.

It's daft to say someone ain't this or that cos if the field they just specialise in
