Great news. O'Sullivan is on the schedule for tomorrow night. I have a couple of questions.

Is it all festival seating or are the seats closer to the players reserved? How soon should I get there to get a decent seat? I was thinking of going at 6 PM for the 7 PM seat. Can I take photos with my phone as long as it's quiet and there's no flash? Any other suggestions appreciated.

They only time seats are reserved is for the final for the local dignitaries. If you bought your ticket already you will have a seat number or not, if not then it is open seating. And the earlier you get to the queue (not cue ) the better chance you have to get the seats you want. This year at the Welsh the queue outside was already long own the road outside over an hour before they opened the door which was about 60 mins before the matches where scheduled to start. What they do at York I am not sure, hope a member who has been to York will comment to help you
Let us know how you get on

If your phone can do no sound no flash photos ok, if it can't then not when players at the table, etc.
        Do a test now

The whole lot is unreserved, but get there early because it will fill up. If you don't get a seat for the match you want, they won't let you change - I missed Jimmy White's match because they said it was full, but they were allowing people to go back to the same seats after the interval, after they missed a frame by going to the bar etc. They won't really allow you to use your camera but if you're not too near the front, they may not notice you.

My ticket doesn't have a number, so it's first come first served. If I'm sitting further back I'm sure they won't notice me taking a quick photo or recording a short video. Having said that, I've never seen a crowd member taking a photo at a snooker event so maybe it's really frowned upon.

Wasn't that White match in the secondary venue? There will only be two tables in play on Thursday night, and there's no wall (like at the crucible) so I'm assuming I'll be able to see both matches from any seat.

Yes it was - I just meant if you can't get into the correct half of the arena, you could be too far over to watch O'Sullivan properly

If nothing else, these low walls make a mockery of the age-old policy that you can't enter the arena during a frame because you'll disturb the players.

It happens a lot at every event, the staff usually turn a blind eye unless you're sitting there constantly holding your phone in the air, but officially, you're not allowed.

                      • Thanks for all of the replies guys. I appreciate it a lot. I really don't care that much how far I am from the tables. Just being at the venue is going to be awesome. The fact that O'Sullivan is playing is a bonus.

now your not there when the players walk in through the audience so should not be a problem
my friend was waiting for ROS to come out once and the security saw he had his camera and said no, my friend said he had no flash but they still said put it away (camera that is )

You will have an experience, be more central to both tables so you can watch Joyce v Lyu as well

I would have preferred Neil Robertson. I guess you can't have everything. As it is, I had only a 25% chance of getting O'Sullivan. (assuming he made the last 16)

                              • I wonder why the UK doesn't do reserved seating. I was looking at tickets for the German Masters and it's 100% reserved seating for the whole tournament.
