Does that make the UK the only tournament that doesn't lengthen the quarters then?
Not really, the quarter-finals are the same length as the previous rounds in most events these days. There are a few exceptions though. The Home Nations events for example, which go from best-of-7 to best-of-9 for the quarter-finals.
That thai player had an odd way of getting down onto the shot, a couple of times he got down onto the shot and shifted himself slightly to the side. Seemed to work for him though, seen some pool players using the rest in a similar way a few years back.

Yeah definitely learnt off pool players, I've seen his approach to addressing gthe cue ball in pool players too. Seems to work

I turned away and missed that shot then the commentators made several references to it throughout the match and there was no replay. Can you elaborate please?
Biggest issue with sunny is his safety, often because of the weight of the shot he had the balls miles off the cushions. Being self taught he probably won't take direction well but it will benefit him, his shot accuracy is up there, in fact the rest of his game is.

He's basically using the rest to play a shot with his chin on the cue, looks a bit odd but works for him. He more or less cues the ball as he would when playing a shot normally, instead of following the standard way of using a rest. There's at least one shot with him doing it in the highlights on i player.

He mentioned he had coaching from Stuart Pettman on how to break build. Set up is a little unorthodox but looks solid and reliable.
Great game last night and Sunny was only a few balls away from winning, the blue going in was harsh..
He definitely has his own style and his metal extension is different also.
He can definitely pot some balls and didn't seem to feel the pressure at the end imo.
Ronnie had some nice words for him at the end and the crowd have him a great reception at the end also. He returned the thanks as well which was nice to see.
Let's hope that was Ronnie's bad session and he steps it back up a gear for the next few days.
