I actually like the two-year-system. It values consistency quite a lot and while it may not be as important as a few years ago, when there were so few tournaments that a one-year-list would have been ridiculous I think I still prefer a ranking that features over 30 tournaments to one that maybe indicates the actual form right now more, but that also benefits players who might just have had one or two good runs and punishs players harder that have just a dip of form, that could be over soon. And if that's not the case and the player's weak period continues they will fall down the rankings anyway. -
Credit to Leo Scullion for learning how to pronounce "Cao Yupeng" correctly. I wish more people would do that, the commentators for a start... :wink:Comment

Robertson needs to win this one to really stand much of a chance tonight, I thought Cao stood more of a chance than many gave him credit for. Robertson, for all his talents, seems to have a major lapse of concentration in him and playing like this isn't too much of a loss from the mastersComment

Tennis commentators are worst for this, only Germanic and romance languages omit letters (silent) from pronunciation, people from Slavic or Greek backgrounds have a rapid tongue that takes into account every letter. I must have heard 3 different but equally wrong ways of saying Kyrgios, none of them seem to acknowledge a 'g' being in it. Dolgopolov has them making it sound like a sentence of 4 words, I think it rolls off the tongue.Originally Posted by VillaGuy View PostComment

Yeah, we talked about this a little last week when I complained about the commentators butchering Lyu Haotian's name. It gets on my nerves somewhat when people don't make an effort, although in this case I realize that pronouncing "Yupeng" more like "Yupong" is a little counter-intuitive for most people, so I can't be too critical.
As I said though, credit to Scullion for bothering to find out how it was supposed to be pronounced. It really only takes a minute to google it, so I wish more people made the effort. :smile:Comment
