Perry had two very likely frame-winning balls that bounced on the jaws a few times. First one was a black on the side cushion with the rest after he had a 56 break in frame 3, the way the balls were positioned on the table missing would have resulted in loss of the frame despite the lead, don't get why attempt such a difficult shot at that stage of the match. Have to say he also had two big flukes in the frame one.

Just looking at the semi-finalists and only Lee Walker can use this event to greatly affect their ranking and staying on tour next year.
With current accrued monies included he is 68; if he can be runner up he could be 66, and if he won he could be 59; so a big time for Walker
With China Open and WSC still to play, he could gain many points to make safe his tour place.

Donaldson is 60 (accrued monies) and could make his position more secured as well

Cao with a tournament win would get the ticket for the Players Championship though. Also a nice treat with already 10.000 Pounds starting money.

They played 4 matches today though, so if you add it all up it makes a possible 28 frames played in 1 day to win it. Just against 4 different people.

Hence the money is very low but what a slog for the players with multiple games per day. Cao looked shattered tonight.

Because the prize money and ranking points are very low. The calendar is pretty stacked this days and the top players need or want a rest sometimes. And then they obviously choose to take that rest during the least prestigious and least lucrative events like the Shoot-out and the Gibraltar Open.
