  • Matchroom.live Championship League

We have an invitational starting on June 1st. Wonder how many will be rusty in their cue actions and potting. Most important, I hope that all people involved are safe.

    Wait they can draw matches?

    • GROUP MATCHES from June 1st to 8th will feature 16 groups of four players, with two groups played each day across two tables. The player who tops each group table will progress to Phase Two. Players will be awarded three points for a win and one point for a drawn match.

    • GROUP WINNERS from June 9th to 10th sees the 16 group winners split into four further groups of four, with two groups per day also played over two tables.

    • TOURNAMENT FINALS from June 11th will see the four Phase Two winners battle it out over one final group, played on one table, to determine the Championship League winner.

The total prize fund will stand at over ?200,000. Players will earn a guaranteed ?1,000 with the winner taking home ?30,000 and a place in November’s Champion of Champions. Matchroom.Live Championship League will not be a ranking event and will be promoted by Matchroom Multi Sport.

The draws on the official WS site aren't clear.

Never heard of a drawn Snooker match before.

Having a match where a draw is possible is not that common nowadays and often if they do they are in conjunction with a Round-Robin Group type rounds.

The Draw of matches is should below, nice touch where you hoover over a name and the other matches highlight

May I know how they decide on drawn matches? Is it like at the end of all matches played in that group, they check the points awarded to each player and if they are the same, then they consider the matches tied.

            3 points for a win
            1 point for a draw
player with most points at the end of all matches wins the group and goes forward to next round.
If there are two players with the same points at the end then the match between those players is considered; i.e. the winner of that match goes through.
If that particular match is a draw... not sure

Would Alexander not have had to quarantine for 14 days? I’m getting a bit confused with the rules. I guess whatever the rules travel will be extremely difficult for overseas players.

I don't think the mandatory quarantine has started yet.

Ah thanks. Had a check. Starts on June 8 so Alexander, and other overseas players, would be OK.

could have been an issue leaving Switzerland, not arriving?

The matches are best of 4 so a draw of 2 all would give 1 point

Just can't fathom how this is a good idea, one good thing about Championship League was the chance to have several deciders over the course of the day, now imagine a player being 2-0 down busting his ass to draw at best, very anticlimactic for the viewers. Not to mention players will have to play on at 3-0, exciting.
