What separates the real elite players from the lower tiered players isn't just ability, it's also mental strength and consistency. The top top players are incredibly consistent.
The match between Ken and Carty last night was terrible, i'd genuinely have fancied beating either of them but i'm absolutely miles apart from their standard.

    sorry Tom, got to disagree...
you are not a good club player...

you are an effing good club player

Thanks Dean, not sure on that though! Depends on how you rate people!
I remember having coaching at SWSA and had 4 frames with Rob Milkins afterwards, he beat me 3-1 on his own table and all the frames were on the colours.
Drove back for a coventry league match and lost 2-0 to one of the worst players in the league. You just never know with this game!

Even the greats have a bad match
That is why we love the game of ours, you just don't know what is going to happen on the table; and we just keep coming back!

I think he must have taken the Alan Partridge comments to heart and is now doing it on purpose just to annoy us more.

                • Yates has been commentating for many years on several different channels, so clearly his employers don't think there is anything particularly wrong with his commentary. He is not going away. I'm not going to listen to him if I can help it though, and he's probably the only commentator I would say that about.

                  • I know it's accentuated by the fact he doesn't have that classic pause on the final back stroke, but Nigel has a horrible jabby cue action. I noticed it with Ken, too. His looks jabby because he has no pause either.

                      • I like Martin O’Donnell , met him a couple of times. Very nice guy to talk to , was using an Osborne cue . Not sure what he is using at the moment . But his slow play gets him bogged down too much . There is careful and there is ultra careful .

It was pitiful, it has to be said.
