  • Dott could miss Worlds.

    http://www.sportinglife.com/snooker/...OKER_Dott.html

Scotland's Graeme Dott has cast doubt on his involvement in snooker's World Championships which begin in Sheffield next Saturday.

The 2006 champion has failed to win his last 15 matches, the worst run of his professional career.

He has had to contend with personal traumas in the past 18 months, including the death of his father-in-law, who was also his manager, and a cancer scare for his wife, who was given the all-clear.

Dott, 30, said: "I desperately want to play but I've not been in the right frame of mind for some time as you can see from my results.

"I will only go to Sheffield if I feel I can do myself justice."

Dott is due to face Joe Perry in his opening match at the Crucible on Tuesday April 22.

His manager Pat Mooney told the Scottish Sun: "Graeme has been diagnosed as suffering from depression and is now taking steps to getting back to full health.

"All that matters at this time is Graeme's health and the well-being of his family."

Didn't see any threads about this...

He should pick himself up from the positive things, his wife been given the all clear, play out of his skin and dedicate his victory to his father in law!

Likewise Ben Crenshaw had his ordeal some years ago, just a fortnight before The Masters and went to win it from there, not having won anything decent for a decade.

No one. His opponent would get a bye. And those people who bought tickets to watch the match would get a refund i think ?

they wont get a refund because there will be snooker played on the other table.....

of course if the Mark Williams v Mark Davis match whitch finishes on the day Dott v Perry is due to start is a 1 sided match i think there would be a case for a Refund seing as they were due to watch 9 frames in the seshion........

I think he would be foolish to pull out of something like this. But somehow I doubt he would get a 'ronnie style' slaughtering from you lot if he did!
Anyway I hope he's ok and hope he turns up and tries his best.

I hope so too. I would imagine he could feel even more depressed if he doesnt turn up atall.

He will be there - looking for attention I guess by publicising this

Bad news for Graeme, its been obvious for some time that he hasn't been playing well and you could see visually he didn't seem interested in the game.

So we have a player with a genuine reason to be suffering from depression, but he still turns up at his matches despite not wanting to be there and doesn't act like an idiot in the press conference afterwards.

Mr O'Sullivan, I hope you are taking notes! Here is a guy with a genuine reason to feel depressed, yet you and your fans use it as a convenient excuse everytime you do something that you shouldn't.

Looking for attention?????. You have no frigging idea mate and frankly thats an insulting comment.
Apart from what was publicised in the papers he has went through enough in the past 18 months to make anyone depressed. when he was playing in the UK his mother was going through triple heart bypass after taking heart attack and his son has chronic asthma and has been hosptitalised several times in a dangerous condition. Yeah, looking for attention.
I dont know whether he will turn up or not, he is having treatment and I hope he will but only if it does not harm his health.

No idea ? Perhaps, do you ? Throwing such things in the press always makes me suspicious. Just tell me why he wants his inner life or feelings in the press??
