I heard a great stroy about Willie once.

Apparently he was well in hock with a few bookies, to the tune of £30 grand. Anyway, prior to a tournament, Parrott told Thorne he had a new cue & couldn't pot a ball with it. He was due to play Doherty the next day, so Thorne got on the 'phone & bet everything on Doherty to win.

Anyway, Parrott pulled off a victory and Thorne was left in tears as his debt doubled...
