If it had been the first time it had ever happened, and not been written in advance as a rule, then maybe he'd have a case.

As it is, it was 6:40, the frame could well have taken 30 or 40 minutes; they have to clear the auditorium of spectators, clear up, re-fill the arena before the next session can commence.

As it was, there was a queue of people in the foyer and stretching across Tudor Square outside the Crucible – and it was peeing down with rain. There is not room in the foyer for hundreds of people leaving and hundreds more entering, and patience as to prevail.

If something stupid happened down there and absolute carnage was caused, we might have been talking about more than Barry Hawkins's ranking points.

Oh, yes – and it's the same for both players!
indeed statman, thats what most of us have been saying. not easy to take for one or both players, but its the rules. if theyd changed the rules and BH won, wed be saying its not right for AC who would have expected to come off if he was aware of the time....

Yes statman you've raised some points, but it's still a bitter pill to swallow for both player's and there's no denying that!

I don't doubt that it's difficult for both players. Also hard on the fans.

But to have played on would have been hard on the evening players and ticket-holders too.

The logistical considerations also go beyond the arena as I mentioned above. It takes around half an hour from the end of the session to their being able to open the doors to the next ticket-holders – and they then have to get seated. Also, of course, they have to properly prepare the table.

So a 30-minute frame being played 20 minutes before the next session time results in far mroe than a 10-minute delay.

I have now had a chance to see the footage and i think it is an F-ing disgrace! Especially the way the referee just says 'this is the end of the session' without first consulting the players at the VERY least. It is simply a DISGRACE!

              Hi.
I think that it was very not fair to both players to end the session at 9-9 score, specially to Barry, who was on fire.
I,m sure his chances for win was much more than after 3 hours brea
But the other point is that it was right with WSA rules.
Conclusion: WSA is not doing well for snooker with that stupid rules.

Yeah sure he should, if he wanted to be laughed at for not reading the rules.

The decision yesterday to postpone his match at 9-9 has cost him thousands of pounds & points - and possibly even the World Championship itself.
How many l's in Bollocks ?

He could well have had the momentum to go and lift the title after beating Carter.
He's got more chance of a threesome with Lady Di and the queen mum.

I suggest he takes them to court & tries to get re-instated in the competition.

I'm not talking about the guarancy but about the spirit of a game.
30 minutes delete of 3rd session its nothing compare with dissapointing people who bought tickets ,milions of TV viewers and players.
                    Its simply ridicoulous rule.
Its like ended football match before the penalty shootouts at World champs.....Unbelievable!

Maybe the WPBSA wanted to make sure Murphy got an easy as possible draw?
do you actually understand/watch/play snooker ??????????????? reading through some of your posts on this and other threads i seriously doubt it,,become a champion 6 or 7 times he will be lucky too win another 6 or 7 matches at the crucible in the rest of his career, like as been said allready this situation has arisen many times in the past and will do so again

Sure, now Carter will become 10 times world champion because he won this match. Come on, as much as I like Carter and want him to win, I´m still realistic (though it sometimes doesn´t sound like that ) about his chances of winning tournaments.

agree with him being lucky, don´t think he would have won if there wasn´t this break. Of course, don´t agree with him being a "choking loser". I just remember last year´s matches against hendry and selby. He lost 12-13 to the runner up. I´m not an expert but I think that shows how good he can be.

Barry had a wonderful chance to win the final frame and failed under pressure. The only one he can blame is him self. He composed him self on every ball for at least a minute and still made a mess.
