Dale was provisional top 16 after the first tournament! Now he's borderline top 32.

Harold is moving up, and Swail is guaranteed to be back in the 16.

The Rankings are looking better than ever.

OKay, its updated on the main page hopefully mistake free too or at least close to...

Right now it is a straight scrap for number one between Murphy, O Sullivan and Maguire with it simply being a case of whoever goes furthest gets it.

For the top 16 it is down to 9 fighting over four places. (I have triple checked and Perry is safe as Swail and DOherty cannot both catch him.)

      The 9 are:

      13 Graeme Dott 1400 27144
      14 Marco Fu 2800 27000

      15 Mark King 3800 26000
      16 Mark Allen 2800 25725
      18 Ken Doherty 1400 25119
      20 Joe Swail 3800 24725
      21 Stuart Bingham 3800 24625
      22 Mark Williams 3800 23925
      31 Anthony Hamilton 2800 20813

      Starting from the bottom...

Hamilton needs to make at least the final to stand a chance and may well have to win it so it is unlikely he will make it.

If Williams reaches the semis he will be on 26525 which would be enough unless two out of: King beats Ebdon, Doherty beats Wenbo, Bingham makes semis, Hamilton wins worlds, happen.

If Bingham beats Perry he will be on 25825 so will be there if Wenbo makes the quarters, and Williams doesn't make the semis and Hamilton in't World Champion.

If Swail wins his 2nd round then he'll be on 25925, this will be enough if his opponent is Wenbo, Bingham and Williams don't better his acheivement and Hamilton doesn't win the event.

If Doherty come back against Wenbo then barring silliness he will be safe. If he loses he is out.

Allen will survive if Wenbo makes the quarter finals AND Bingham loses to Perry AND Williams doesn't make the Semis And Hamilton doesn't make the final.

King will probably be there if he beats Ebdon. If he loses he will drop out if two of the following happen:

Doherty beats Wenbo, Swail makes Semis, Bingham makes semis, Williams makes semis, Hamilton makes final.

Fu and Dott are probably safe, they can only really fall if 3(Fu)/4(Dott) of the follwoing happen.

Doherty beats Wenbo, King beats Ebdon, Swail makes semis, Bingham makes semis, Williams makes the final, Hamilton makes final.

Added note, A Doherty win will mean all players below him will have to win at least 2 matches to break into the top 16.

The top 32 is pretty much set at the bottom end and will only change if Wenbo becomes World Champion. IN this scenario he will rise to 26 in the World and push Dale off the end.

Chuang is currently playing for his tour place. Beating Ronnie won't get him in the top 64 but it will put him top of the one year list which he currently isn't in. To make the top 64 by right will require reaching the quarter finals. The final will be enough for a top 48 finish and Liu Chuang: World Champion means he is World number 40.

All of this subject to idiocy I must add.

With the Doherty result in, Dott is now assured of his top 16 place bar an amazing Hamilton comeback which spurs on a run to the final.

Now it is down to a straight fight between Fu, King, Allen, Bingham, Swail and Williams for those final three places.

If I could choose the three players, it would be Fu, Bingham and Swail (I would so love to see Swail somehow fight his way to the championship.)

Even though Wenbo can't officially get into the top 16 if he wins you have to remember he gets an honorary top 16 place so the the number 16 player has to then go to qualifiers. It happened to McCulloch when Murphy won it.

next season Nigel bond will be ocupieng World no 23 his highest Ranking since 2001/2002 season where he also was No 23.....between then and now he was out of the top 32 for 2 seasons...........not bad for a 42 year old to be after 6 years climing the rankings again.......

and Mark Allen is relying on Liang Wenbo to beat his fellow Northern Ireland Player Joe Swail and Joe Perry to beat Bingham not to mention Mark Williams not to Reach the Semi Final to push his way in to the top 16 for the first time.....

Well Roger Moore did outstay him welcome. Will Bond retire aged 58 like Moore did with his final Bond film?
