I'm absolutely delighted for Ali ... he's been an underated player and he's such a nice guy! Brilliant!
Ali carter is comming of age this week and im delighted for him well done mate.....
everyone knows how good ali carter was as a player.....he lacked bottle and the killer punch......but the way he disposed of murphy showed he could get there a little later in life than most.....
Is it right that Ali is the first who made a maximum without having previously won a tournament? It´s written on wikipedia, but I don´t believe everything on there

Andrew Higginson hasn't won a tournament but has a 147. Nick Dyson has two 147s with no win either. Never trust wiki.

How bizarre is this - on the bus home at 8pm tonight I was leafing through this year's programme and was reading bits about Carter "he hopes to swap 147s for 747s soon as he qualifies as a commercial pilot" and I looked at his high break and though "but he isn;t swapping 147s for 747s cos he's never made one and then a couple of hours later this happens! Ali and ronnie used to be practise partners as well, so it's all very neat
Probably the hardest black potted to complete a 147. Wonder if Carter gets called a Genius and a magician for that 147, I doubt it. Really delighted with how much it meant to him and a great celebration

take a look at this list i think youll find a few players that hasent reached semi finals that has made 147 in compatition...
I was joking April! You do not remember Ronnie got a 147 against Ali a couple of months ago? You do not find it a bit funny? At least Ali is getting a decent enough pay-back this time!
Oh well, how about Ali making another against Ronnie in the final? That would make some sense
I was also impressed to see how Ebdon celebrated the 147 almost as if it was himself who had done it. I guess he must have been a little disappointed though.
....its not called potting its called snooker. Quote: WildJONESEYE

What is going on in Sheffield? That's a record, first time there have been two maximums in the same tournament.
Fantastic break it was, and look how happy he was! No wonder, this was his first 147!
Actually, there was 2 in the 2000 Regal Scottish open, Maguire in the qualifying round, and O'Sullivan at the final stages.
It was made in the same arena with just a few days between them (so its not like those where someone makes one in the qualifiers, and then someone knocks one on a few months later in the final stages)
