I'm pretty sure the transcript from the press conference with Ronnie will be on the Worldsnooker website soon enough. I saw it and he just said he didn't feel confident in the way he played. He said he struggled to get a break going, his long potting wasn't there all tournament and his safety has let him down too. He praised up Dott though, admitted he coped better and played better and deserved to win. He actually came across very well considering he had just lost, I think probably relieved that its all over and he can think about a holiday.

IMO, he's a real genius, and like all the geniuses, he has such a tormented mind, and a proper behavior. Love it or hate it. I used to be a Ronnie fan but nowadays, I tend to appreciate a lot more some lads like Hendry, Higgins or Robertson.Ton Praram III Series 1 | 58" 18.4oz 9.4mm | ash shaft + 4 splices of Brazilian Rosewood | Grand Cue medium tips

not at all; Murphy O'Sullivan was my bet (over on gaffer I missed a few matches but even if I'd not, I wouuldn't have even gone for Dott) that Fu match looks like it's really taken it's toll on Ebbo, but what a comeback if he gets close - v.v.unlikely though. Imagine Dott ripping those ribbons off when he wins!Head Still... Follow Through... Keep it Tight... Never Give Up... Ton 'em if you can!

It was 15-7 Dott but now, Ebdon is on fire!! 15-13 !!! What a comeback!
I know Graeme Dott is used to go to pieces under pressure and it wouldn't surprise me if he blowed it all to lose down the road...It would be a shame but it seems he's cracking now.Ton Praram III Series 1 | 58" 18.4oz 9.4mm | ash shaft + 4 splices of Brazilian Rosewood | Grand Cue medium tips

Dott deserved it. Great clearance to go 17-14 and then held his nerve in the final frame. I think his high break in the final was only 68 which must be a record for a World Champion.2009 Shanghai Masters Lucky Dip Champion

Yeah, Dott deserved to win. But I think he could have shon more respect to Peter at the very end instead of shouting like crazy, though he hadn't cleared the table yet.Ton Praram III Series 1 | 58" 18.4oz 9.4mm | ash shaft + 4 splices of Brazilian Rosewood | Grand Cue medium tips

Agreed. As I recall, Ebdon only needed 3 snookers when Graeme was on the brown and decided to go and kiss the trophy. Ebdon I'm sure would have come back to the table had Graeme missed the next ball, so I think it was premature and disrespectful. That said, it's understandable that he was very excited about the near certainty of becoming world champion after 12 years without winning a thing.
Ebdon can't really (and didn't) complain about the shouting and screaming, he used to have a bit of a habit for it himself, it's not too gentlemanly, and coming from the 'wee Dott' it looks a bit silly, frankly, but again it's quite understandable. Sometimes it's nice to see a bit of emotion, although in this case we didn't need any further proof that Dott's a guy who puts his heart into it. Ebdon welling up at the end of his semi final was a memorable scene.
I just don't like the way Graeme came across in general, his determination seems to be fuelled by sheer anger, towards the table, his opponent, the public, and anything else he can think of. He could probably do with a holiday to relax a bit, now that he can better afford one.
As for the final, I think it was saved from being a total write off by the improved standard, mostly from Ebdon, in the final session. At 15-13 it became an interesting match. Dott's 68 clearance to go 17-14 up was the turning point and the highlight from his point of view. Gutsy stuff considering the context, and his highest break of the match.
Up to that point, it was pretty turgid I'm afraid to say. I like a safety battle as much as anyone but the tactical and matchplay wasn't close to the standard of the likes of Doherty, Davis, Higgins etc. And needless to say, the breakbuilding was atrocious. It became a war of attrition, reminiscent of the great grinders when they were well past their best in the 90s. I can't see it attracting any new fans or sponsors to the sport unfortunately.
Not a classic, but it could have been worse. A saving grace, the wider championship did have some great matches; Hendry-Bond, Robertson-Dott, Ebdon-Fu, Ronnie-Williams.
