I'm also hoping to see Suwannawat do well, it would be nice to see some sign of a sucessor to Wattana.

My guess is that with Jimmy and JP in action today, this thread will go crazy with updates from people and questions from those wanting updates...

It's a shame that these 2 have fallen so far so quickly, but this is really last chance saloon for both.

Parrot's game and confidence looked terrible last times i saw him - i think it was the Malta qualifiers agaisnt Drago and Holt. I suspect Jimmy isnt quite that bad.

Although they both have indeed fallen very far, i dont belive its their last chance saloon just yet. Their rankings are not yet so bad they are certain be relegated. I believe Parrot is certain to survive on the main tour at least 1 more year, and Jimmy would be very unlucky to drop about 8 places to fall out of the 64 - during the last 2 tournies.

I think bar a world quarter final line up of 8 first or second qualifying round players, Jimmy is safe too.

Jimmy, JP and Higginson in action!

OK, so very early first scores. JP behind already (but Leadbetter does look good this tournament)...

Barry Pinches vs Joe Delaney 2-0
Rod Lawler vs Mark Allen 1-0
Dave Harold vs Mike Dunn 2-0
John Parrott MBE vs James Leadbetter 0-2
Marcus Campbell vs Passakorn Suwannawat 2-0
Dominic Dale vs Andrew Norman 1-1
Ricky Walden vs Andrew Higginson 0-1
Jimmy White MBE vs Jamie Burnett 1-0

using standard, can't be bothered with the 'improved' enhanced, but checked it just now as well, same games there.

Maybe not danny, I am prone to exaggeration. However, losing in your first match in the tournament only gets you half ranking points, and certain players below JP and Jimmy will get to the Crucible, which will lift them rapidly up the Rankings.

When I say last chance saloon it's also with next year in mind, as if they don't get the points this year, they really have a mountain to climb next year to keep themselves in the Top 64 for the year after.

Hope one or both progress though

                            Two further updates

                            D Dale v A Norman 1-4
                            R Walden v A Higginson 3-2

It's a shame to see Dominic struggling. Hopefully he can make a game of it.
