I have looked into the drawsheet first time, as i was short of time lately. It does not seem fair, is it not? we could have last round qualifier, Higginson against Selby and on the other hand Hicks against McLeod. The first one could even be a quarter final while the last one is nowhere near the local league! I know its all about points over the last two seasons, but there is something wrong imo. Recent form (last 6 months) is completely ignored by the system. The system should be overhauled. Last season counts, but last performances as well! Lets shake it up!

I'm 99,9% sure this was Tony's last professional match..
I think it's certain he will drop out of the 64 this year, despite winning most of his first round matches. Such a shame he lost this match in the decider, I think he knew his main tour place is on stake, and the pressure was too much..
Although I hardly saw him on TV in the last 2-3 years, it's very disappointing to know he will not be on the main tour next year.. and as I don't think there's any value in taking part the PIOS I'm pretty sure that was it..
I hope I'm wrong, but the provisional rankings on GSC aren't promising to say the least..

Paul, I totally agree with you there (lol, not even local league ). Let's not forget that Higginson has to beat Walden before playing Selby. The name Walden cropped up a few times as well this season, whereas in the other part of the draw Rory McLeod "only" has to overcome Tom Ford. However, the most "local league-ish" draw must be Lee Spick, Mark Allen, Rod Lawler, Robert Milkins . Compare that to Higginson, MacKenzie (didn't he play on telly this season, either?), Walden, Selby!!! I presume that a change of the world rankings would have prevented such a draw, wouldn't it?

Isn't top 64 just a guarenteed saftey mark?
I mean players like Higginson, Penfei, Wenbo I thought were assured places on the tour next year so if they make the top 64 then 65th will survive and so on.
Or I think there's something like that at work.

Below this, only the players in their first year can survive (im not sure of the detail exactly how it works). But those that have been on the tour longer than one year would be dropped."You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

So after yesterday's matches, we've now got Cope vs Trump lined up in the next qualifying round, could be a cracker.
