I don't see how veterans are protected. Jimmy White went from 8 to 35 in one season. McManus is out of the top 16, Stevens is risking dropping out, Williams is nearly out. At some point, even the biggest names like O'Sullivan were on the brink of losing their elite spot.

New names pop into the top 16 all the time and people lose their spot all the time as well. How many times has Anthony Hamilton popped in and out of the 16 by now? I'm sure The Statman has statistics on new names entering the top 16 every year. The top 16 are not protected, they are simply the best players over the past two years.

Marco Fu just made a century to level the match at 2-2

And Mark Davis coming back against Ding - 1-2 now, and 51-0 in the fourth frame to Mark.

My worldsnooker's livescore is working fine (it wasn't working for me yesterday evening), there's also live score on globalsnookercentre.co.uk website.

What do people reckon about Ding's chances of qualifying now?

Difficult to tell. He has been quite inconsistent this (and last) season: winning tournaments AND losing qualifying matches against not-very-top- players. So, toss a coin, and you know...
