Hmmm I think Ronnie'll take it quite easily actually...as I've said in another thread, I think Ding will experience some big-time deja-vu from the Masters and I don't think he's experienced enough yet to deal with it mentally. Also, He's up against and on-form Ronnie, and it is his first visit to the Crucible. So, all this said, I'd be very, very surprised if he wins, even though I hope he does.
Semih,
I am going to cheat and wait until after the china.
It struck me that all your questions would make good threads, and invite plenty of opinion, which after all is what decides whether you have a good forum or ?
Perhaps you will consider using them individually after the china.

i certainly dont think who performs well in china will have a bearing on who does well at the worlds. ok, one tournaments form after another usually sees continued form, or at least more often than not IMHO, but not with the WC.
also, i posted the question to see what folk think prior to china.....
Semih.
I agree with you, that was not my point.
I just thought that the seperate questions in your thread were worthy threads in their own right and it would be interesting to hear posters views on those seperate issues. TSf is not exactly overflowing with provocative threads and your questions would be a step in the right direction.
I know I am not alone in that view.

I do disagree. There are a couple of players who have been doing badly as of lately, who might be in need of doing well in China, for a boost in their confidence (Higgins, Ding...). If those do well in China they will be mentally more prepared to continue their progress in Sheffield. Higgins already started playing better in Kilkenny, so let's hope he'll do just as well (and of course even better) in Beijing.
It seems to be the general opinion here that Ding will have a huge disadvantage in his opening match against Ronnie because of a match that took place in January, so why wouldn't the matches in China, just a short time before the Worlds start, have any significance to what happens in Sheffield?
@Moondan: Go ahead! Make more topics! It's quite slow around here these days. Maybe all the regulars are off doing their last-minute IRL stuff before the matches start next week?
Ain't got a clue mate ...........all down to day itself, well 2 days really (sessions on different days)
Ron will certainly start as favourite (experience may prove crucial) but I still think the match can go either way. 1st round always tricky, always throws up a few surprises, although I dont think many people would be surprised if Ding won this match.

i am quite happy for them all to be discussed here or elsewhere.
The China Open will mean nothing. Not since 1998 has a player won the event before the WC and then gone on to win at the Crucible.
1998 - John Higgins - Winner
1999 - Fergal O'Brien - 1st Round
2000 - Ronnie O'Sullivan - 1st Round
2001 - Peter Ebdon - Quarter Final
2002 - Stephen Lee - 2nd Round
2003 - David Gray - Did Not Qualify
2004 - Jimmy White -1st Round
2005 - Ding JunHui - Did Not Qualify
2006 - Mark Williams - Quarter Final

exactly Alex0paul. not saying that whoever does great in China CANT do well in the worlds, but going by recent events the trend is they wont....and even had the trend been different id still say that form into the worlds doesnt always carry, as its THE WC
I voted for Ronnie with a close game , Ding will be a tough nut to crack. The reasons i voted like that ... cause Ron seems to have a great period atm scoring 147-s after 147-s , then i think he has much more experience than Ding to play in Sheffield considering this is the the first time Ding's there , and a better moral, i think he'd deal better with the long games format , and last but not least , cause i would LOVE to see ROn winning !
